aahhhhh yes of course.........I was down the path of PI the mathematical term, even got the old engineering books out and yip there it is 3.14 etc etc etc

but the expression NDT over PI equates to calculus curve thats beyond me and I;m not going back for that course again.......no, never again.

Do as I have for my last three sets.

Put them on the car after a visual inspection, and then inspect them each time ya wash the car

"NDT with PI" should translate to "Non-Destructive Test with Penetrant Ink"

Hit the nail on the head... new gets you a warranty with the maker versus just the seller.

FWIW, I think a 'Porsche dealer takeoff' would be an acceptable exception to the 'new with warranty' preference.

seems not much can be done within reasonable cost/effort, before you're into new dealer take-off or brand new territory.

I've always inspected them the best I can, then followed someone else <driving> down the blvd while I pull next to each corner and see if they rotate straight. Found a bad Butterfly wheel on my '77 Smokey and the Bandit this way, but it's far from anything scientific.

Same can be done on a balancer running at speed...

I thought you were a John Deere guy?
NDT- Non Destructive Testing. PI Penetrant Inspection with a dye that shows up under black light. Shows cracks and fractures in the material.

I used to run production control for a company in San Diego that made many parts of the Tomahawk, Space Shuttle, F-117, MD-11 and Titan Missile system. It was an interesting job and work was good through the Reagan, Clinton, early Bush era. Then military cutbacks kind of hurt us.

I am not a John Deere guy but I do own a company that makes steering correction systems for Deere, Trimble and AutoFarm self steer systems for AG, Marine and Survey applications. We have a magical box full of blue smoke that takes GPS data, cellular RTK data, mates them together and brings a system that is 1 foot accurate down to sub inch accuracy. It is pretty cool. Our website sucks but check it out. www.base-n-abox.com I can't see how this is a violation of Rennlist rules as I am not advertising or trying to sell anyone a steering correction system for their Porsche but that would be cool . . . .

We offer a solution that instead of having to buy a $20,000 Deere base station to run your tractor, you can buy our $5500 box and do the same thing and not have to move the base from field to field.

Also own/manage a pallet/crate/reel factory that caters in part to Deere subcontractors. Guess that kind of makes me a Deere guy, just twice removed.

Oh and on the side I manage a feed/seed and sandbag company and run a little hedge fund.

Anyone got suggestions for my free time?
