Default 87 928 For Sale

After 5 years ownership I think I'm ready to move on to something else.

Car is a later 1987 (no folding wing) automatic S4. Current odometer reads 84,XXX and being driven daily. Since I bought the car in April of 2006 I have had the following done.

1. suspension replaced with Bilstein/Eibach shocks and springs.
2. Wheels upgraded to 19" Carrera Classic (295/35 235/35) with 1" spacers in the rear. (have originals)
3. RMB (have original muffler)
4. Momo steering wheel (have original)
5. Blaupunkt CD radio (with Ipod input, also have original)
5. Jager wooden tip shifter (also have original)
6. Timing Belt/Water pump replaced last year (have receipts)
7. Hoses replaced 2 years ago (have receipts)
8. Distributor engine wiring replaced last year (have receipts)
9. Has rear air option.
10. Only sytnetic oil in the car.
11. All wrenching under my ownership done at Kresge in Bethlehem, PA. Independent Porsche/VW/Audi shop that knows its 928s well.

AC blows cold and all HVAC functions perfectly. Two very minor hairline cracks in dash between vents. Rear trunk interior by windows has shrunk a bit and cracked.

Seats are in excellent shape with almost no bolster wear.
*EDIT*- Drivers side seat has stopped working. I replaced the switches last year with new ones, worked until just recently. Am in the process ID'ing the problem.

Cruise Control does not function. Never tried to fix.

Everything else functions 100% on the car and am driving it 2 to 3 times a week to work (100 miles round trip). total mileage I've put on is about 20k in 5 years.

As the weather warms up this week I will give it a good bath and take pics of exterior/interior.

Looking for $20k for a well sorted S4 and am open to offers. Not sure where the prices are these days so just throwing this out for starters.

A few pics here. Will have more up by the weekend.

ART! Say it ain't so!

Man your car is SWEEET! I can't believe you're selling it.

Damn.

Gonna go with a different year or something? You can't be giving up on all 928s, can you?

$20K, really?

Sounds like you told the wife you are trying to sell it but not getting any offers.

A well maintained S4 is worth every bit of 20 grand.
I doubt 30 would buy my car.

Absolutely. I wouldn't take an unmaintained S4 for free; I wouldn't have the time or money to finish it.

After seeing alot of cars I agree a clean S4 or even some of the earlier models if clean are well worth 20k if in really nice shape.
Selling their cars for less only drives the market down.

20K for an 87 is off the mark in my opinion(Which doesn't add up to much:-)

Depends on the 87, most have not had the 20 year stuff done to them, (little things like the Torque tube, all the bearings, motor mounts, rack, radiator, lines, hoses, AC, the list goes on) and are worth about what they sell for.

But you get one that has had 30 grand worth of just mechanical work done to it then add new paint, glass, rubber, etc, then that is a different animal.

Very few cars in the second group.

I have no idea about this car that is being talked about here.

Toms is getting a bunch of the 20 year stuff right now, as is Dans.

Looks like a 928 store at the shop.

You know it is bad when a really nice M5 is parked outside at night.
