Default knock senor condition

Knock and Hall sensors were replaced in 09 as part of an overall intake refresh. Since I have it all apart again (different thread) I notice that an antifreeze leak has gelled onto the knock senors.

Question is would the antifreeze deteriorated the sensors...

I say no. Those sensors are well protected.

+1. It takes a lot of heat cycles for gook to deteriorate the knock sensors. And, unlike some new parts from Porsche, the covering on the new knock sensors appears to be a different (perhaps better?) material that the originals.

From the base or the neck? If the latter, then, you need to separate the two pieces of the filler and reseal them with permatex black. (I learned this the hard way.)

Did you use a torque wrench when you bolted it down? Too much torque and it will warp.

yes.........it was replaced with the intake refresh. I was very particular of torquing the knock sensors, all intake nuts/bolts and the oil filler. I wanted the project to last a very long time but it was not to be.

As with the ISV hose I've requested my vendor to investigate with Porsche for nothing else to pull stock of possible bad components.

Compensation for parts and labour is perhaps out of the question.

Malcolm I would strongly suggest that when you refit the oil filler to add the 928INTL oil block off

Use a generous amount of Hondabond on the plate to block ,
and the plate the the bottom of the oil fill spout,
and goob some in on the O ring as well,
and then put it on .

You may have to do some test fitting of the Plate to get a perfect fit,
if you follow these instructions your oil fill should never leak again

Right. But, what's the failure mode? Is it because the plastic is warped at the base?
