I really see nothing wrong with stroking a 6, he just should have added boost!

Nothing better than blowing the doors off a V8 mustang, camaro etc, looking at the guy at the next to you at the light, he asks you what you just dusted him with and you say a six.....priceless!
I agree with modifying stuff in general. However, the engine he started with is, um, not the best. He's got 10 grand in an engine that makes 300hp. That's nothing special power wise and quite a bit of money. For $5000 you can build a 500hp V8. That would be money better spent.

10K is a lot for a 300Rwhp stroker - BUT the good news is the V6 can be boosted well.

This is route i would of gone with that V6 ...

I get it, you are heavily into boosted V6s. But if a V8 is available, why start with 2 less cylinders? It's a handicap right from the begining.

+1 Failure to understand this action. And then to label it a Cobra? Failure of the highest order.

Thunderbird SC are like grand nationals, Just cool american cars and when everybody and there brother has a Mustang why not be different. Thats all.

I have had two 5.0L mustangs, one modular mustang, a 383ci 90 Z28 convertable, two preludes, a mercedes 280ce, Lincoln Mark VIII, all modded and built up.

Aside from my 928 which is by far my favorite the SC is my 2nd.

I would never take a basic 6 and try to build upon it. The block is not as strong as a HIPO 3.8 which was made for boost and power. Very strong blocks.

Nothing beats the sound of the 928's V8!

I consider myself a novice racer......an experienced driver surely could get my car around the track faster than I can........ I do drive on track as often as I can....typically around 50 hours on track per year.

I always have been a "numbers" guy....when I 1st took my stock 88S4 to the track, in 2006, I knew the "numbers" of all the newer Porsche's were far better than what my S4 could do...0-60, G force, braking etc..... I was STUNNED that I could keep up with or pass just about ALL of them.....even on my 1st track day.... I'm not some type of super gifted driver....its just the 928 platform is very easy to drive at or near the limit.... If you haven't driven on a road course before DO IT...find a track near you and sign up for a Drivers Education event and get an instructor.....its SO much fun....

No way you would ever catch Jean-Louie in his EuroS and there are plenty of slightly modified C5's he cannot hang with, much less the "estate".

The Mustang I'm referring to laps Road America on par with Joseph Fan. So unless you are now going to claim the estate can hang with his 928......

I was just busting your ***** before because this Mustang is a full blown race car like Fan's. It still has a "stock" chassis like his car, but just as modified.
To come back with that video? Sorry, I've seen 911 GT3's get passed by stock 928's (mine). That doesn't mean the 928 is a faster car and you are not going to see me posting a video about how much faster my 79 is than a GT3.

+1

I'll never stop being amused by people who brag about beating faster cars in the hands of slower drivers, or people who simply do not want to push it that hard.
I have video's of my stock 79 passing much faster cars on the 5,000+ foot straight at Road America. You don't see me posting them while saying: "Look, my stock 79 is faster than a Viper!!!!"
Hacker
We both know that the driver counts for about 90% of lap times.....clearly your friends V6 stang is a dedicated race car....if it can hang with Fan, then clearly it is faster than my "Estate" which was born as a sub $500 lemons racer....

We also know that comparing real street cars, even drag racers, to a dedicated track car isn't really fair either.....but Catfoods friend doesn't know that.....

I don't consider my Estates lap times or videos "bragging"...since really its too ugly to brag about.....I am much more proud of what can be done on a joke of a budget (whole race car for the price of your SC).... It just points to the strengths of the 928 platform..... reasonably light when gutted, adjustable coil overs on every corner (try that in a vette), strong brakes with good weight distribution plus a wide powerband V8 (can't say mine is powerful at 200whp) all make a very easy to drive platform.....

There are plenty of cars that are much faster than my Estate.....but virtually none at the "lemons" price point..... since the 928 Estate STILL holds the lemons lap record at Thunderhill (but not with me driving unfortunately)...by only .2 of a second...
