Even though they were all very nice cars, I think a 928 of this quality would be the most difficult car to buy again if you ever go that way.

Hey Chuck, sorry to hear about your job loss. As they say things happen for a reason and maybe a new better opportunity will present itself. Glad to hear the Ebay sales went well and that you kept the GTS, there isn't another one like her!

Sorry to hear about your job Chuck. It sounds like you are still on solid ground, and from where I sit (in the service industry to the financial services world) we are most certainly clawing out of this nasty rescession, so your out time shouldn't be any longer than you want it to be.
Also glad you kept the shark! As the keeper of the Registry keys, it is comforting to know that you are still in one!


Which leads me to my next comment....I just made a donation through Paypal to the Registry. I would challenge everyone here who can to do the same - large or small, it does not matter - just donate.
Chuck has tirelessly put that wonderful resource together for all 928 enthusiasts, and I know it takes resources to keep it going. Chuck is great about not solicitng us for donations, but clearly, it doesn't run by itself.
So - and this is all on me and Chuck had nothing to do with this - find it in your heart and wallet, if you can, to keep that wonderful resource going strong, and make a donation!!!

Job loss can be very traumatic. Went through it myself in '08. I had to make some serious decisions, that would have been considered out of the question previously. But it worked out in the end and I'm now in a position that I can really grow with and still get home at night to tuck my kids in.

Glad to hear you're keeping the GTS. I guess this means we can count on you to be at SITM this year?

VERY SORRY to hear about the job separation situation for the two of you. I'm relieved and happy that you sold the other cars so promptly, and that they will go to good owners as well. But, I'm also very glad that you aren't departing the 928 scene as well.

You'll find the "new life" to be enjoyable, but it will (probably does) seem a bit strange at times. I'm sure the right new career paths will show up for both of you when the time is right. You've obviously been very productive employees for that Idaho company, and a new employer/culture will be an opportunity to learn a lot of "new" stuff. That's frequently a good thing, and I know you'll adapt to it quickly and well.
My best wishes for a rewarding "vacation" time and a fruitful new career path for both of you.

I am currently in the same boat... and while my tenure with my former employer wasn't to the length both of yours was -it still felt like betrayal.

During my time with the PE (Previous Employer), my industry knowledge, education, skills & work ethic formed a large part of a previously un-written job description. I had been the top performer 80% of my years and in the top 3 the remainder. I had won every President's Club annual competition and had the ultimate compliment given me by being selected to train the national sales force on new methodologies that I had the privelege of being on the development team for. I had started as the solitary representative for a 3-state territory and at my departure, 5 reps worked the same area.

Upon separation, I learned my senior-level salary was used to hire 2 newbies -thereby breaking even on payroll and increasing field coverage. They knew nothing of the industry, nor the customers... in an industry where the customers' trust and belief in my abilities had been hard won.

Sorry to hear the news Chuck... but am glad you are being given a respite to focus on and shape your future career!

Amen to that Barry!!! Sounds like we three are in the same boat together! So short sighted on the part of companies...they just don't seem to get it... Sounds like we were all more fortunate than some and received large severance packages at least...

Chuck sorry about the job loss but I think you are taking the right approach and in the end I think you'll find that parting ways will put you into a better position.

Glad to hear that you're keeping the GTS, I agree with others that it would be the most difficult to replace and a decision you may have regretted.

Enjoy the upcoming time off, figure out what you want and then get back on the horse when you're ready.

sorry to hear about the job. I do agree it all happens for a reason.

My brother in LA was looking for almost 2 years- restaurant business-training and ops-first to go in a bad economy. In the meantime he was able to care for his wife while she received a kidney transplant and just found a sales job-new field. In 5 weeks he's #2 producer with the weakest leads. He should carve out a nice new career and work the next 20 until retirement.

Good luck-it all unfolds itself. Glad you kept the GTS and love the BMW choice!!
