I use the "Max Life" Valvoline Dex/Merc in the 84 and 93 and it works great. I also use it in the powersteering. In the 84, I've been using it for about 8+ years now (I think), and somewhere during that time, it stopped leaking too. There's a couple good write-ups here on Renlist if you haven't done the change before. Tony (V1UhOh) has so many pictures and descriptions... a caveman could do it.

Valvoline high mileage, big red jug, worked great on my car! Walmart seemed to have the best price.

When I had mine replaced it started slipping gears. I found that you have to top up with the car running in "Park" to get the right amount of fluid into the system.

HI: My 1984 928s powersteering leak like a pig for six years I saw Max Life" Valvoline Dex/Merc at Walmart. I put in the new Valvoline the leak was gone in four months an the last three years it has not leak one drop! I will put it in my trans as soon as it stops snowing. I also have a 1989 964 an one year ago the powersteering was starting to leak I put in all new Max Life" Valvoline Dex/Merc an have not had a drop since. Vernon.

Vernon I would suggest that you inspect your PS hoses if you find leaks that stopped its an idication either the clamps are loose or the hoses need to be replaced, its usually a combination of both,
fresh hoses will make the system last longer

Thanks Mrmerlin my hoses were leaking an were very hard an the clamps were in a bad way also. I did change them around five years ago an as you say that really did help I think everyone should do that because these cars are getting old my 928 has 165,000 miles on it an it still runs great I like to drive my cars. They will run for a very long time if you take of them. Vernon.
