Default '87 Hub differences

Will MY '85 '86 front wheel hubs work with S-4 '87 and up front suspension?

if you are swapping in S4 suspension parts to an older car with ABS,
then you will have to use your old hubs to keep the ABS system working the sender rings are different.

EDIT this is not the correct information ^^^^

the S4 hub is bigger (Higher) than the older style hub so an S4 hub will have to be used and if you have ABS the rings will not swap over as the mounting areas are different sizes the early ABS ring is smaller

Thanks Stan
Yes I am converting MY '85 to S4 suspension and I will not be converting to ABS as MY '85 did not have ABS.

UPDATE:

So I pulled the hubs off of MY '85 today and there is a difference in the height/ length between MY' 85 and MY '87.
The distance from the bottom of the hub to the base of the studs on MY '87 is 3 1/4 " and the distance on MY '85 is 2 7/8" ( MY '87 is on the left and MY "85 is on the right)
I would assume that it is not possible to use the MY '85 hubs with S4 suspension.

DOH I made a mistake, your picture clearly shows the S4 hubs are different , i had an old early ABS hub and an S4 hub and also found that same difference that you show, , sorry for the bad info.
I edited my post to reflect your findings, thanks for keeping thing straight

Why are folks putting on the Later suspension again...just for brake upgrades?

I am really curious what the thickness of the late 928 hub where the ABS ring was machined into the hub near the inner bearing race? Porsche did this same thing and re-cast a new 86 951 hub to get bigger brakes and made it weaker. What's ironic is the 87-up 928 hub extends out (10mm?) but they machined a smaller stub shaft on the spindle......making it weaker.

bigger brakes rotors plus they flipped over the lower ball joint so it is stronger. Forged upper a-arms vs cast. Slightly different geometry.....

FWIW I removed the older style ABS ring and it isnt even close to fitting on the S4 hub,
the S4 hub has a bigger OD where the ABS ring seats compared to the older style ABS/hub
