i am aware of the pump o ring but didn't change for fear of voiding the warranty.definetly not pulling trans out again for a while.if i cant put a stick in i will at least put in a fill tube.should just be able to drill and tap the cap with a check valve and some tubing.i use a gear oil pump which has a 3/8 id outlet
I suggest contacting the company that rebuilt the tranny and ask them if there is a shop local to you where you can take the car and have the O ring replaced -without warranty issues. They may have arrangements with other companies for just such an occurrence.
The worst thing they can say is 'no'.

I'm missing something here. If they gave you a warranty, it would cover the leaking front pump o-ring. Call them and ask them where they would feel comfortable having their o-ring replaced under warranty and at their expense.

Sounds like these folks are not going to stand behind the parts they sold you so really what do you have to loose?
Next time get your used parts from Mark or Benton, they know the cars and will stand behind the parts they sell.

yes, checked around for a while for a used trans, mark didn't have one and this guy did get good references from this forum.sent me an 83-86 converter and said it came out of an 88.no way in hell it could work as the drive flange to converter gap was 9/16 of an inch.

Is the trans an earlier 4-speed too? If not, why was there an early converter with it? And why didn't they make good on whatever parts they sent wrong? If they aren't stepping up to fix their mistake, they should be notified of where they can pick up their transmission and/or converter. Stop/escrow the CC transaction until they get their stuff together.

no the trans itself was correct 88 part number.it didn't come with the front tc cover .when i asked why they said it wasn't part of the transmission.i'm sure they just threw that tc on there and sold the front cover and original converter at some point.i paid with a money order so there's no stopping payment.

If it was an eBay purchase (an LA dismantler lists many things there), get them involved. A money order has limits on refunds, but over a certain $$ amount has legal issues tied in. True, a transmission is just the piece between the TC and the LSD... but they are usually sold together -and expected that way.
Or... just take it to a tranny shop and have the O ring replaced on your own dime and try to save some of your investment. Then don't do business with the Cali source again.

at any rate you would be well served to remove the front pump O ring,
yes its easier to remove the trans first, replace it as well as the radial seal for the TC,
NOTE put some vaseline into the bronze bushing. behind the radial seal so the TC snout wont seize.
You running the trans with a known leak could quickly kill it,
for now since you know it works take it apart and fix the leak,
you really dont need any warranty at this point,
but you really do need a transmission thats not leaking either,
once the seal really goes bad you wont know how bad it is till the trans burns up from from low fluid.
To try to band aid the level check due to a leaking seal isnt smart money

You don't have to remove it... the tranny shop will. Then, perhaps send the eBay seller the invoice for the O ring replacement & perhaps they will recompensate you for part of the bill against their "warranty". At least the tranny will last a good while longer without a leak.
If this one needs rebuilding in the future (it is a used part), there are a couple of experts that frequent this forum.
