Default Which Oil Pump Body

I am replacing the oil pump on my GT (torque error; broke the shaft to which the sprocket bolts).

I have a 928.107.120.0R oil pump to install.

928.107.120.1R (1988) is the original oil pump body on my 1989 928GT.

The -1R body is a prettier casting. It has an o-ring step, instead of an o-ring groove. The interior is slightly different (photos tomorrow, if necessary).

The other oil pump parts appear identical. Any reason not to put the innards from the -0R pump into the -1R body? Any reason to do so?

Also, the bevel on the secondary oil pump gear goes away from the engine, nicht wahr?

Thanks.

Big picture. The -0R (1985?) is on the left; you can see that the casting is a little rougher than on the -1R (1988).

Also, at about 8:30 the internal shape is different between the -0R and -1R.

Am I exploring new ground, or asking a question too stupid to deserve a response?

(I'm okay with either.)

The 0R pump is for the 16 valve cars. Are the gears inside identical?
I do have 2 spare 1R pumps.

It's hard for me to imagine swaping parts from one oil pump to another. There is likely to be subtle height differences between the two gears. Also, the gears are going to wear into each other and thus into each casting.

I might do this if I was broken down in the middle of the Sahara and needed an oil pump to drive out. However, as easy as it would be to find the correct pump, I'd probably suggest you do that.

the other change was the depth of the outer sealing O ring,
the later pumps are fitted with the O ring closer to the engine block compared to the older pumps

I will measure the gears, but visually they appear identical.

Want to let one of your pumps go?
