Default 928's at Thunderhill..report and photos WINNING

Jeff, Sean & I made the trip to Thunderhill for the NCRC races and DE...

We all ran in Open group for the DE and Sean and I signed up to race, me in GT3 and Sean in GT2.... Jeff's "bargin" 928 ran really well.....and put down a very impressive dyno pull...but I'll let him tell that story...

Sean had a bit of bad luck with the Widow....so he only ran for 1/2 the day....

The Estate ran great all day.... Sean's old Hoosier R6's are very grippy...and came at the "Kibort" price of $0.00 which really helps my lack of a racing budget!

I managed a 2:09.84 over the top on the Hoosiers..which was pretty good since the lower rear swing arm bolt was loose and caused some really bad tramlining under braking....which of course we didn't figure out until the end of the day, after all the races...

I managed two 2nd place finishes in GT3....1st was an ITS miata that was very quick..turning 2:07.00....far faster than the Estate...I knew something was up when I couldn't catch him on the straights... so I am happy with the results....even better I finished 10th overall of 19 in the 1st race and 7th of 15 in the second race....I beat ALL of the spec miata's...only the hotrod miata was faster!!!! Not a bad showing for a $256 26 year old 928!!

We did a test fit of Seans "rain" tires....18x10x65mm front and 19x11x63mm rear...front is 265/35-18 and rear is 295/30-19....THEY FIT...no rubbing either...Kiborts fender rolling at SITP works!!!

There is no bow low in my car's video. Im used to a car significantly lighter, and without a frankensuspension under it of various ages and capabilities. Including a left front caliper that would work or not..at various times creating some cool braking imagery from both of our points of view.

Kevin's bleed solved that...and your PSI change solved more.

It was however, the fastest love seat ive ever piloted on a track in quite some time...

I am hoping the video shows the "shark" in the trunk...that I had a great view of the whole time.....

Well, day two started with RAIN RAIN RAIN.....and a mild hangover (for 928 race weekend standards)...so I get to the track (late)....and I was seriously thinking about heading home and taking a nap...but Sean and Jeff convince me to stay and race..... I head out to practice with the race group, all 4 of us that braved the rain....and all 4 of us ran together in a pack around the track....at REALLY slow times, but it was raining pretty hard with mini rivers flowing across the track (T7)

Race Qual went much better....traction was MUCH improved....and Seans massive "rain" tires in 265/35-18 front and 295/30-19 rear had much more grip...times got much better....and all of a sudden the 928 Estate is on the POLE...yes you heard it right....P1...Pole Position.....

The race went well...I knew I had more power than the Miati....and a drag race start from 40mph helped...but some good driving by the Miata racers got a miata past me....a lap later I got past and held the lead until the end!!!! So in my 3rd real race I qualified on the pole and WON the race in 1st overall....I am very happy!!!!!

Enough talk time for pics

The big wheels DO look great!!!! I just finished my logbook today!!! All thats left is putting on the stickers and getting the weight-dyno just right.....the bummer is I don't have a license...... Hmmm I wonder where I can find a driver with a NASA license.....if "we" win GTS2 we get free HOOSIERS!!!!
