Well got a few work related jobs to finish off first and then the nightmare begins.
My recently acquired '83 Auto hasn't really got much going for it.
1. Engine in bits - arrived that way
2. Radiator auto cooler holed.
3. Autobox full of rusty ATF
4. Respray from hell - different colour, very badly applied
5. Cracked dash
6. Leather falling apart
7. Interior trim falling apart - bits missing
Thats all I've found from a quick once over!
On the plus side:
1. Straight car
2. Low miles
3. Full service history
4. Its a 928.

What a badly afflicted person I am.
John
Very optimistic view. I like that. I am going to adopt the same thing.
I now also got a full service history with my unloved 79 I bought last year. Since it appears the PO's never changed anything and thus there would be no service history then I got a full service history with the car
Maybe after I finish MY 89, ILL pick up a long project car. Right now one is enough.
For encouragement I just go to Sterling's page and review all that he has done to his car.

Saw and heard Sterling's stroker today at the DFW GTG. Oh my God, what a beast. It does not sound much like a 928 anymore. More like a top fuel dragster. Unfortunately he did not have the hood on it yet so we have not seen that fine work of art.
Wow John...May I suggest finding a running motor instead of that one. It will probably be cheaper in the long run and a lot easier. Then you can pull what you have and have a spare builder on the side....or parts.
The engine is fine, the PO pulled the head off because he thought the head gasket had gone. He had Mayo in the radiator header tank. It was the transmission oil cooler that had failed and leaked into the cooling water - hence the mayo.
The engine has only done 60K I have a full engine gasket set arriving tomorrow - (from the States). I will break the engine down clean and repair as required and then reassemble.
I have another radiator on the way, the autobox is full of rusty ATF so that remains another adventure!
How the PO decided which head to pull remains a mystery, but I guess on most any other car mayo in the header tank would tend to indicate head gasket failure.
I should admire your ethusiasm and your interest in saving another 928 from the wrecker. They should have paid you to take this one away. It has a scary amount of corrosion.
