When Scott brought this up, I laughed and told him if he could put it together, I'd do it.

There's a bunch of different ideas here, that are all good. We could take an engine and take it apart and put it back together...kind of like what they did at the Porsche 928 engine school...or we could do a manual transmission...or we could do an automatic transmission. We could have people bring their individual 928 vehicles and work on them for the entire week...service stuff only....no way could we rebuild many things, in a week. Or we could do????

Seems that this could be made to work..need to figure out what people are interested in doing and see if this is potentially something that could be done.

Talk to Scott.

I would fly out to CA to attend an engine workshop. A manual trans. class would also be helpfull but engines would be my first choice.

So a GB fantasy camp isn't such a fantasy after all. That would be way cool just to even watch.

I wonder if I can get another kitchen pass from the warden??? However... when I think of GB fantasy camp, I conjure up images of hanging with the boys near Lambo playing with a ST2 on a dyno.

I’d do either in a heartbeat, but for now they are just fantasies… upper ball joint boot this weekend for me... fun, fun.

For me it would be G28-early trans service / disassemble, measure and reassemble nuances.

Might be doable if one engine gets torn down BEFORE the school so everything can be prepped, cleaned, surfaced, machined, threads chased all replacement parts on hand, all laid out for assembly. Then for the school break down another engine. That way no down time waiting for things to get done. Go right into the assembly process.

I'll volunteer for the breaking down and cleaning. I'm good at cleaning, now.

From the pictures posted, and caliber of work, you're like the white tornado. You and Dwayne.

And I've got a rack of parts that wants to become an engine again. All it needs is a bit more disassembly, some cleaning, machining, a few new parts, and some assembly... Must be a plan in here somewhere...

That's a great idea. Realistically, that is about the only way that rebuilding an engine would work, in a short period of time. Take one apart...look at the oily pieces and figure out what it would take to rebuild it...and then go assemble the one with all the pieces redone.

You could have the "students" during their camp work on cleaning and prepping the second engine bits late at night after you go home .... That way they get to experience the entire process.

Hey, Jim, I think you'd make a great TA for the class.

Maybe JB can also have a fantasy camp. I would call it "Keeping it Real with James Bailey". It could be a camp for people dumb enough not to listen to James in the first place. Where do I sign?

I think the US Top Gear could use Jim's help!

Suddenely I have Another engine that needs rebuilding. I vote for engine and tranny rebuilds. I'm sure Wifey and the kids would be ok at that amusement place down the street for a week.
