Can anyone tell me how to get to the rear antenna motor mechanism on a 79 928? It seems to be missing from my shop manual.

I believe you have to remove the inner rear fender well. I too have to change mine.

Jack up car, remove driver side rear wheel, make sure to use jackstands.

Remove plastic cover behind rear wheel. Antenna unit will be fully accessable now

Unbolt brackets that hold it in, pull grommet from fenderwell and you "should be able" to pull wiring harness through go gain access to the connector. (I ended up pulling interior quarter panel)

Get a Hirschman replacement from Roger

Install wires per directions. I think I spliced to harness and then used stock connector.

Adjust brackets to make sure angle of side to side and front to back look good to you.

Replace plasitc cover, wheel, done.
