Cheap car (928) transport suggestions?
Anyone have any recommendations for cheap auto transport options? I've shipped several cars cross country, but they have always been nice examples that I wanted delivered by enclosed transport. This time, I'm looking to ship a parts car, and my only requirement is that it arrives here in some reasonable time frame.
Thanks in advance!

If the plastic door sill on the drivers side is good, can I buy that from you? If it is an OB or S can I buy just the lens from the drivers side tail light from you too???? I could use a few wheel well liners also (passenger side front wheel well FRONT liner and drivers side rear wheel FRONT liner...the front one would need to be an S specific liner).
PS...sorry I can't be of any help on the shipping...all my experience has been nice cars in enclosed trailers.

It's long enough that driving doesn't make sense. I've done long trips in pursuit of the hobby, buth this trip would be 1500 miles each way. I'm all for a road trip, but not for this purchase.
James, the car is not an OB. If the deal works out, I'll list the parts here first, but that's not a big deal with the number of parted cars available lately.

Gary,
Actually it seems to be a big deal as I have not found a SINGLE drivers door sill and I have been looking (though I did miss one a month or so ago) for months now (at least casually looking anyway). Also am not having luck w/ the S fender liners either.

I just used http://www.carshippingpro.net/ to get quotes for my '84 Euro S donor that I purchased. Prices are $450 and up for 1200 miles open carrier. However, that is with a running car. Will probably be more with a non runner.

I have had good luck using this website from boat to open & closed transport. Easy and reasonable. A lot of shippers will look here for back hauls. Had my car transported in an enclosed trailer from Phoenix to OKC for 500. Time frame is usually pretty quick. http://www.uship.com/

try Uship.com, i just shipped a 928 from nocal to utah for $300.00. On that site you can post what your willing to pay and shipping companies will see if and when they could do it for that price.

Thank you for the uship recommendations. My car arrived here today. $900 for a 1500 mile trip. I ended up selecting in independent operator who did the trip himself. This price was door to door with a non-running car. For anyone looking for cheap transport (open on a single car trailer), I would highly recommend him. He's based out of Texas. Whats both good and bad with uship is that on the low end you are dealing directly with small owner operators. Guys with a diesel pickup and a horse trailer sometimes and willing to fill an otherwise empty direction. Best deals come from having lots of flexibility in times and dates, and waiting for a good price.
