1989 S4 intake and valve covers; swap for free PC?
Instead of buying intake and valve covers thought I would throw this out there to other 928 rennlisters...
In about a month or so will be looking at doing the top end refresh and in the process wanted to powdercoat intake, valve covers, etc. So, instead of buying some off ebay to get PC'd so they are ready when do the top end refresh thought would ping you folks.
Long and short, if you have intake, valve covers for a 1989 S4 laying around, in good condition of course, you send them to me. I then get them walnut shell powder coated, etc. I install them on mine and then send mine off to get powdercoated. When they are done I ship them to you. In other words, in return for trading with me you get yours PC'd for free other than shipping for the parts to me.
I have used this powder coater many times in the past and he does an excellent job. Amish fellow who lives near my dad in NE Indiana. He powdercoated the body of a 1972 VW Thing my dad is rebuilding, yes he had the entire body powder coated! Below are some pictures of it.
Anyway, if interested in a temporary swap PM or post here please. Like I said, will be about a month out and would need to allow time for getting both powdercoated, etc. before powdercoated ones are returned back to you.

Should be a no-brainer for someone! I wish I had the right year! Now I just need someone to offer this with an '85-86.

I've got an extra intake I keep around for this reason. Two actually.

There's something cool about the incongruity of an Amish guy powdercoating VW Things Candy Apple Red. I love it.

Agreed! It is so funny to see their shops, no electricity inside allowed, bizarre how they get around that! For example their lathes are run off of leather belts which are connected to electric motors in "sheds" outside the work area so the belt goes from them, under a covered awning to the lathe inside the shop!

8-8:30 in da morning. I should have a set of cam covers also before then. I've already got an intake/cam cover set powder coated and ready to go, just need the customer to come. One set of each is a ready for pc'ing.

Make sure the intake your going to get has the same part number!
Some time in 89-95 they changed the intake. They say the factory changed the casting so that the intake runners would actually have a bigger diameter compared to the early S4s. I just don't know what year it was, it could have been mid 89 or starting with 90 model years. Some 89 cars that came with the early intakes (87-88) had their runners machined to bigger diameter until they went with the different casting, but I think that was only for the GT cars. However, you could have the same intake too. Just compare the casting numbers or measure the runners, if it was machined from factory it would be obvious. I want to guess that if you have the 3R heads, you could have the later or machined intake.

Gun runs on 110v. Oven would either be gas fired or 220 though. An oven large enough to fit a Volkswagon in would be gas.
Finally! You're giving someone a GREAT!!!! deal. I bet $400 on the low side and $1000 on the high side to get a complete S4 package PC'd properly. Plus shipping both ways. I hate to be devils advocate, but I supect some is about to make a killing off of you!!
