Default GTS pistons and valves - I gots them

Going through my garage and found a set of rods for a 944 that I don't even remember buying (never a good sign), and a set of the pistons and valves from the Copart GTS (my father's old GTS Phil Threshie horror story).

The pistons are fine and do include the wrist pins and still have the rings in them. They were taken directly from the engine in running shape (guzzling oil) and put in a box, same with the valves.

Anyone have an interest in any of this stuff? No, it's not free I have more Ducati junk to buy for a custom build. We all know custom=$$$!

I don't know what's fair for the valves so I'll leave that to you guys, I've been out of the 928 game for a long long time (aside from working on them for other people). I have to double check to make sure they're all good as well.

Is $600 fair for the pistons?

So what are a set of windy old GTS pistons and rings worth?

Sterling, everything on a 928 has value, its not a Ford Exploder
People do occasionaly buy them for replacing bent ones, and they'd make one hell of a sweet wind chime for a handy hobbyist

Martin,
If you're interested, I'd be happy to open up the box and get the info for you and inspect each one and email pictures to you. Please PM me with your email if you'd like and you'll have an answer by this evening .

$600 is good if their nice and cleaned without damaging them. I think Rob sold a set of group 2 pistons from a GT (same piston height as S4) that were cleaned up by Greg for about $260.

Yeah, I think I sold those too cheap $300 for 91 GT pistons, tolerance group 2, perfectly cleaned at Greg's shop.

So the value of GTS pistons is only for A) rebuilding a GTS that for some reason needs pistons (I happen to need 3, but I also need 2 GTS cylinders to go with them.. ) or B) for someone who needs GTS ring sets since the rings are >$1200 new. But if you're rebuiliding a GTS, would you install used rings?

The skirt height on GTS pistons is shorter than S4 pistons, if you happened to have a good GTS crank you could rebuild an S4 motor into an S4, but why would anyone do that?
