there is other ways to make HP far cheaper than cams.....

1: Make sure its running 100% (this is the easiest way)
2: Get an X pipe and new exhaust...

Cams will have the same effect on a 928 as they do on pretty much any other car.

Call Mike, is my advise.

I hope the cams have as much impact on an engine as they do your wallet.

thats the point, on an ls3 a simple cam swap nets you 40+hp, if i could gain 30hp in cams then thats worth the expense to me, if not then it's just a waste.

Well, I have had to change heads (which were RHS ported) intake, carb, and intake just due to a simple, small cam swap.

I had to go to aftermarket RHS ported heads, slightly bigger headers, smaller converter, and a larger ported intake, just to go up a little on the cam size.

It all has to work together or you are just throwing your money away.

I could not tell you how many engines I see that have way to much cam for the car the way it is set up.

A big duration and large overlap cam is not going to work well in a car with a tight converter and stock heads.

Nothing cheap about going fast, and nothing cheap about going anywhere at any speed in a 928.

HCI, heads, cams, and intake all need to work together, but I would still like to hear of some people with experience using the various "optional" cams that are available for the 928.

Factor in 4 cams, plus a full set of new hydraulic lifters (they need to be replaced with the cams - the contact surfaces wear to the cams), and probably a new set of valve springs to cope with increased lift, and cams aren't a cheap option.

Cams can have a good impact, but you're better off doing headers first (better than an X-pipe), so that you get the breathing benefits from the cams.

See this thread for a very nice 5.0L rebuild that included cams.

Here is a thread about 928 cams, including for sale, from another site. Just another option.

That is the point, Mike Simard can make any grind you want, so pretty much any cam is available for the 928.

Mikes Cams are a thing of beauty like everyrhing he does. Simply amazing.
Cam's, head work, headers and install if you do not do it has to be about 7k worth of work. Just a guess.

Go with Colins (Lizard) or Simards cams.

You won't get as much gain on a 928 engine vs a LS3. Also it will be nearly 10x the money as well.

You'd be much better off with a full exhaust.
