Barry, I need a '93 or '95 GTS! LOL! Well, BOTH actually so I can have a FULL BRACE of GTS's!

Randy, as noted by others those are called Carrera Light Weight wheels not CIII's...those in the pic are from the '02 to '04 996's (may have been used after '04 even, but I know at least '02 to '04) and the CIII's are from the 997 and do have a more favorable front wheel offset.

I think the CLW's are THE most elegant wheel Porsche has EVER produced and I LOVE them on 928's! Especially OB's and GTS's!

Yep.

I really did not notice any difference in the ride when I went to 18's.

Those of you who have switched to 18s and have good ride quality please give us tire size and brand recommendations. I'll be looking for tires for my new 18s (8" and 11") soon. Thanks for your input.

Nexen N3000 235/40-18 and 275/35-80. Also Sumitomo HTR Z II 235/40-18 and 285/30-18. I prefer the latter, fits on the 10" wide rear wheels better, but the 275/35 has a softer ride due to a taller sidewall.

I researched the Conti Extremes on Tire Rack and they scored very well in repeat buy, quietness, wet traction, cornering, ride comfort, and steering response. These 928's eat tires, and I could almost buy two sets of these versus a set of the PS2's. They also have a visually appealing tread pattern and that little extra sidewall should also ride a bit better. T

65 and 85 ish. (f/r) 8" backspacing for both, 9.5" and 11" f/r rims.

Ft: 18 x 8.5, ET52: 245/40 ZR18
Rr: 18 x 10, ET65: 265/35 ZR18

Didn't notice any harsher ride going to the 18's from the 16's, but the roads out here in WA State are pretty good compared to other places like NY/NJ metro area where I grew up. I might be singing a different tune with the 18's if I lived there.

And I've rounded up some additional 10"s for the front, considering running those up front. Tested them and they seemed to work ok.

I'm thinking 225/40/18 (8" rim, et50) front and 285/35/18 or 295/30/18 rear with an 11" rim and et65 running a 25mm rear spacer. Sound good? My car is an '85.

I have the Carrera light weights and the fronts are 8" X 18" ET50 and the rears are 10" X 18" ET?? (not sure can't read it). I too have an '85 and it has the short studs and no spacers and I am not sure the 285 rear tires I am running would fit if it DID have the stock S spacers! So, watch out on that rear wheel. The fronts also are going to be limited to 225 front tires with and 8" ET50 wheel. The suspension must be a little different in the pre S4 cars because even the stock tires are closer to the rim on an S car than on an S4. An S4 would take 234 and maybe even 245 on an 8" ET50 wheel... YMMV!

Are the 285s a tight fit on the suspension side or the wheel lip? Thanks.
