Default OB blinker intermittent... FIXED!

Knowing the experience here, I bet someone knows the exact problem.

Sometimes the directionals work, sometimes they don't. Both sides exhibit about the same behavior, and it gets a little better as the whole car heats up. When the blinkers act normally the relay makes the proper tempo "ta-tink, ta-tink" noise. The times the blinkers don't work there is either a rapid "tink-tink-tink" sound or silence.
Grounds are cleaned, bulbs OK. Column stalk switch appears to work OK. Fuses looks good.

I'm thinking relay.

tink-tink-tink means the relay thinks a bulb is burnt. Or multiple. Perhaps there is bad connection with the pod? Not sure, but I think the function of the relay goes trough the blinker lamp inside the dash.(someone will probably correct me here)

Just did this today on my 78 - was the bulbs. They all worked but one was different.
Put in new ones and perfect.
Use 7506 Osram or similar - we sell them for $1.50 each.

I would guess bad contact between bulb and socket to be the most likely cause. I'd try running the turn signal with the bulbs out of the lenses, and see whether wiggling them causes/cures the problem.

On my 78 cleaning the connections where the wires connect to the back of the lights fixed this for me. Had to remove the wheel liners to get to them. The connectors are female spades with a rubber coating. The coating was falling apart and the spades were corroded. I replaced it with shrink wrap.

Default Overlooked

Could this be a low blinker fluid issue I keep reading about?

OK problem is still not fixed. I replaced all bulbs w/ new from Roger, and checked the bulb base connections. All look good.

The relay still makes noise in either direction, which leads me to believe it is OK. Just sometimes the signals (mostly RH) won't fire, along w/ the dash indicator. When the side doesn't light, I can tell (by the dash warning lights increased dimming w/ car not running) that there is an increased draw on the circuit.

It still seems to work better the warmer the car gets. This Saturday will be a track day for me... I will get her nice and super-hot and see if that makes a great difference. The old Italian tune up attempt! Haha

Which groundpoint do you think is the most relevant here?

For what it,s worth I had similar problems a few years back on mine , it turned out to be the printed circuit board on the back of the instruments had developed stress cracks, the particular circuit that supplied the indicators.
