Work on Sat.

Sun. thought about joining some of the others for the 24 hour Rolex race.

Is there another thread detailing the problem?

If MrMerlin jumps in here and you can get him to sign off on it then I would say you are good to go. Until then it's at your own risk.

For the record I'm not interested in buying this car so don't feel you are in a race against me to buy it. I'm just interested in looking at it because it is the same year as mine with a few more miles.

Lots of folks have flown in and driven home not even knowing ANYTHING about these cars! One of our members in San Antonio bought a car in NorCal I think it was with 212k miles on it and he flew in not knowing a THING about 928's and drove it all the way back to TX no problems! CRAZY! I think he has had the car either nearly a year or nearly 2 years now and knows MUCH, MUCH more and realizes maybe that was not a great idea, but ignorance was bliss and he didn't have any problems! It can be done!!

If MrMerlin is able to take a peek and maybe drive it around a bit I suspect he can give you some VERY SOLID feedback on this car!

Yeah I can take a look at it, not that I am Mr Merlin by a long shot.

I can let you know if it is an obvious NO or HELL NO not worth spending the money on a PPI or if it is worth taking a longer look at it.

It is the same year as my car and I know a lot of the major stuff to look at based on my trial by fire experience.

I would recommend if say it is ok to definately get a real PPI.

ThomO, nice talking to you today, and if you could swing by I'd really appreciate it. Let me know how I can otherwise help.

TomO take a 10mm socket and pull off the right timing cover,
it should be easy ,
one bolt then inspect the Timing belt for cracks,
if it looks new then see if you can bump the crank to TDC and check the tension if its a 90 degree to tight twist then the belt should be OK.

NOTE do this with the engine cold if possible

The inestimable Mr. Merlin! Thanks for your input to help ThomO to check this car out. I'm very excited about it, partly because of the road trip I'd have to take.

If you've had a chance to look, what's your take just going by the pictures?

Thanks!

from the Ebay ad it looks good some stone chipping on the front but it would make a nice daily driver,
the interior and engine also look good call em and make an offer . make sure to check the trans level before you go driving off in the wild blue,
if you wanted to i could prolly go over the car before you got here,
I dont have time right now to go check it out though

Thanks again ThomO! I've gotten the dealer's final offer, which I think is fair if the car's in the condition they say it is. There appears to be maintenance records too. Once I hear from you I'm prepared to go ahead and buy it.
