Default Travel tool kit

This Saturday I am going to venture up Hwy 5 to the Thunderhill event. From there we are going to drive to Eugene OR.
As I am prepping the car ( changing all the bodily fluids) etc,
Any thoughts on a recommendation for an emergency tool kit.
Other than the usual duck tape and tie wire? roflmao:

If you have the fairly average 928 that you've not owned long enough to fix what the PO didn't, you might want to consider a trailer for the extra parts you might need. If you have the usual 968, just take a few extra fuses and relays.

If you have a 911...I don't have a clue.

Well I carry, pliers for pulling relays, a test light, black tape, spare relay and fuses, multi screwdriver, jumper wire, all rolled up in coveralls and set on the spare tire.

If your car up to snuff, just enjoy the ride. Only thing I ever take is spare fuses, and a few extra bulbs. Factory tool kit and cell phone is plenty. Have fun, and a safe drive.

On the earlier cars I like to take a three way and two way jumper wire, a quarter inch drive socket set, long needle nose, 18 inch penlight and a magnet on an extension shaft.

On my second trip from LA to Fort Worth in 8 months (parents illness) with the above. If you've been driving the car all you need is a lot of gas money (actually getting 23 mpg). If you haven't been driving it....

These cars love to be driven, the more miles the better they run. Hell, I got mine out of a pawn shop, other than a set of tires and normal fluid changes, and PM. The car hasn't cost any more to own than any of my others. The Polecat is the money pit. And my shark has been very reliable.

Thank you all
This is a shake down run and lets see what breaks. It's amazing to me that so many of these cars that are made to run long distances are not driven. Fuel mileage is a very minor issue. Yes you could spend $45k on a Volt and lets see how many miles we can drive to offset this.
Question of the day....PO's is this like a POlitician. Just how much can we really believe the PO and did they do it they way you would have done it?

Electrics seem to be the bugger but we shall find out...see you at T Hill

AAA premium long distance tow card.....to get you back to civilization. Towing is EXPENSIVE ! Having the local guy try to fix it can be even more so !!!

At pretty much every 928 event I have been to I am always shocked at some of the cars, how in the world they got so far away from home in a car I would not be willing to go five miles in.

As far as your question about what a PO did, I think that in most cases the less the better.
Even stuff that has been done by shops that should know better is many times not up to par.
I can think of three 928's that have been in my shop in the last year that have had the timing belt replaced/checked that were on the edge of failure due to gears, bushings or other problems.

The only things I accept as good are the ones that we have checked or done.

I usually carry most of the above plus spare belts, tire plug kit, oil, gloves, flash light , and an old hat and sweater I don't mind getting dirty.

Apart from spare fuses, you might also want to pack a spare fuel pump relay - or at the very least a short jump wire with spade connectors each end.

Fuel pump relay and injector relays are special on these earlier cars, carry them if you have them.
Carrying specific spares ( or the 3 way and 2 way wires) is the other way to go.

Oh, and a wiring diagram!
