Default Emblem delete?

Hi all -

I'm considering jumping in and have been looking at the online ads around the US. Some of the pics of cars advertised as S4s don't seem to have the contrasting color emblem script ("S4") on the rear bumper that I see in other pictures. Was this an option of some sort, or might it indicate a re-spray, or?

I'm a real noob in the 928 world and appreciate your indulgence. I try learn more every day using this forum, from those who share their knowledge.

Thanks for your help!

I think it was a no cost option...so some have it and some don't from the factory. Could also be that the car had it, got hit and they didn't replace it though.

You will love an S4! Probably the best price/performance ratio in all of Porsche-land! My first 928 was my '88 S4, just look what it did to me!

PS. Be sure to read the thread at the top of the 928 Forum about 928's...it covers a LOT of ground and there is a lot of reading there, but if you read that thread it will answer just about all your questions.

Hi Marty welcome to the shark tank, since your in Colorado we have a few events that happen every month if your near Denver it makes it easier to attend.
There is a cars and coffee every first Sat of the month in Lafayette then Porsche Breakfast club every 2nd Sat at the village inn at Colorado and I 25 at 8am
Also the is the Rocky Mountain Sharks group a collection of 928 owners
Anyhow for a bunch of info about 928s just read the FAQ at the top of the page, it takes a few days but you will learn a lot of info about a lot of different topics, and if you going to be buying a 928 make sure to read it as it also has buying pointers in it.
There is also a good search function just put " around "

the words you want .

Some people de-badge their cars for a "cleaner" look. I've owned 3 928s over time, and none came with the badges, for whatever reason.

If you find a car you like, but you want the model designation, you can always get it from the Porsche dealer, or order the 3D version from my store.

Is this a great place or what?!! Thanks for all of the responses.

I had made a pass over the sticky threads at the top, but didn't pay close enough attention to the options list on page 3. Looks like code 498 "Without Rear Model Designation" addresses this. For some reason I was stuck on "emblem" and didn't come up with "model". Doh!

@pcarFan928 - wow, seems you _really_ like 928s! I count 8 in your sig. If that's not an endorsement for the quality of this model and encouragement for me to move forward then I better go with a Prius lol.

@terry gt - thanks. What do you do car-wise in the winter up there in BC?

@Mrmerlin - we are probably within 30 minutes of each other, I'm SE of Parker. Thanks for the gentle search reminder. I've thought about the weekend monthlies, but always seem to have trouble dragging myself out of bed early enough to drive the hour+ to get there. I guess I just need to get serious enough . Is there someplace I find out more about the 928 specific gatherings?

@Nicole - glad to see sponsors active in the forum, and thanks for sharing your experiences. BTW - You have books listed on your site, would you consider any of those to be the "928 bible", kind of like Streather is for the 993?
