Default Mystery connector

Going through some more stuff today and noticed this disconnected wire. It comes from the top of the bellhousing. What should it connect to? I cant seem to find the mating side to it anywhere.

Could I just get rid of the whole thing by snipping the able above it's connector to clean things up..and keep that hole closed?
