Mostly comes down to how you define fun. As I have said for a very long time something about having a 928 must make you smile either you get it or you do not. If someone does not you really can not explain it to them and little chance they will change their mind.

No one NEEDS a 928 we just WANT them.

For some people spending $100,000 for a car is a MINOR decision and of little signifigance. Reminds me of a chinese business man who owned a major shipping line who brought his daughter into the family business......He let her make the minor decisions, 10 million or less

I've had my fun. Any more and I would be writing this from prison, from speeding. Unless you are a judge or state trooper and have a teflon license, I would bet I'd finish in front of you and have to wait up.
Besides speed there are many ways to enjoy and appreciate these cars, one of which is wrenching on them. There you see and understand what you've got.

Amen Jim, i'm an average guy without large means but I enjoy my cars, I can see how the 928 can become an obsession, people look at you like your crazy when they ask why anybody would want more than one 928! There is no way you can explain it that makes sense to anyone.

Actually many who have NEVER been on a racetrack grossly over estimate their driving skills and so do some who have been

The first day for any new student is often very humbling, educational but humbling, great fun but humbling......When they realize that they do not know how to drive then and only them can they start learning. Like the guy with the new GT3 who was turning SLOWER lap times than the old very brown 1980.....he quickly got far faster with more track time.

Frankly the only thing "exciting" about speeding on the street might be the fear of getting caught......otherwise it is pointless. One good thing about doing track time is the need to speed goes away because you really know the "limits" of the car and how dangerous and reckless that would be on the street.

My first autocross I got 2nd.....from last. The only car slower was a woman driver that kept getting lost in the course. By the end of the season I was the car to beat.

Absolutely!

Good instruction makes for a safer street driver too.

I believe that was what Kyle Busch was saying just before he was clocked at 128 in a 45 zone.

No fish stories yet?

People who enjoy driving these cars find a way to do it, safely. YET, no matter what part of the country the 928 crowd seems consistent. Getting them to take a fun drive is like organizing a trip to the dentist. Pro race car drivers go like bats out of hell, plenty of F1 stories for that.

Just 1 928 made an appearance at the easy to get to Cars&Coffee here in central NC where there are 35 or so registered 928'rs. Same thing happened in MA when I used to try and get guys to join in. Get out and enjoy them. Have a good time, live life to the fullest. While still being responsible and using the brain God gave ya.
