Default Who wants to be the next caretaker of Leeroy

As most people know, but some new folks may not, Leeroy is a 1980 5spd that is a 928 community car. Leeroy has a long history, some drama, but more importantly great philanthropy. Search will be your friend if you are unfamiliar with the story. Regardless, Leeroy is a community car which means once a year he is offered up to anyone who is in need of a 928, has the ability to maintain and indeed upgrade him to either a very minor or significant degree, your choice.

The intent here is to provide someone with desire, interest and ability to enjoy and maintain his general state of repair. All that is required is to accept Leeroy under the basic premise that you will use Leeroy, maintain him during your tenure and to improve him however slight that might be before transferring him to the next caretaker. When selected, you must register and insure Leeroy as your own vehicle for the time frame in which he is under your care. That is it.

So if you are interested in being the next caretaker for Leeroy this is the forum to post that interest. Let's keep the goodwill of the 928 community strong.

Brendan, please post some recent pics of Leeroy if you have them.

I love this whole idea and concept!!!

I wish my good friend Carl was one here or even my buddy Elliott, know both of them would love to have "their own" 928 for awhile...both have been using/storing mine for me and Carl has put 15k miles on the '81 since getting hold of it 3 years ago! I guess the '81 is kind of my own personal Leeroy car.

What about Hacker? I don't think he's been able to find his car in years?

You can throw my name into the hat. I am saving my pennies and hopefully, I will start shopping for my next 928 by this summer. My friend and mechanic Jules Hauer (Hauer's German Car Service) will be the mechanic. This is a close community and I understand if Leeroy goes to someone else (I would be just as happy). I still remember Leeroy when you first had him at 928 Intl.

I also think Erik and the green bay crew would do the car good, they have to have something to do besides drink for the next few months while it is 400 below zero up there.

My friend and mechanics Rob, Bob, Rolf, and Ryan will be the mechanics.
Fixed that for you.

Someday, when I have enough for a good paint job, but not at the moment. In the meantime if I can help keep him healthy count me in.
