Default Rim and Wheel Replacement..

I just bought an '87 with the original slot rims and I want to replace them with the turbo twist rims off a 996, and I am wondering if I can just throw them on, or if I need additional work or parts....I am sure anyone with the answer already knows this, but just in case, the original front are the standard 7x16 w/ 225/50/16 and rear are 8x16 w/ 245/45/16. The new ones would be front 7x17 w/225/45/17 and rear 8.5x17 w/ 255/40/17. Thanks for any help.

Just put them on... No biggie at all...

I personally prefer the new Carrera III wheels from the 997's and even more than those the 996 Carrera lightweight wheels (but the offset of the CIII wheel is better)...I think both of those wheels look far more modern than the now dated twists, but that is just me...

Thanks for the help...wow, quick response. Think I will be a more permanent fixture on this forum as I get to know the car a bit better. And I agree with ya on the look, but I like the twists much better than the slots, and I got a pretty sweet deal on them. Thanks again.

Yea, the slots can grow on you and when the twists came out I REALLY wanted a set, now I LOVE the 5 spoke C-LW's!
