You drove it but the problems you listed are cosmetic, the important thing is how did it run? how much does it leak? but does not bode well. If you could see the belt, cam gears, compression test, end-play, then $5K might be top offer and in winter's slow days, I bet he would consider it.

I wonder if he traded it in on one of those new Hyundai Equus? The Koreans are starting to really move upscale.

I spoke with the guy, Greg today at Morrow auto group. I asked him if he had any records for it and I gave him my offer of $1500. He asked why? I told him with no record of flex plate maintenance, water pump, timing belt, tensioner condition, abs, airbag, hood, hatch, paint that I can't see sticking $8000-$10,000 in that car. He said, "yeah, this car is not for you". Meaning: this car is not for someone who knows what might be lurking in the shadows.

Drove fine. Steering tight with no dead spots. Car didn't pull left or right. But I was so dissapointed with what I saw, the test drive was almost irrelevent.

Did not notice any fresh puddles under the car before/after the drive. Couldn't tell if belt looked warn as i don't look at enough belts to have a good judgement.

Bottom line is the car was not cosmetically well cared for. I doubt that someone who doesn't care enough to have their car detailed on a regular basis and correct flaws in the exterior/interior, would care what the compression of cylinder 8 is.

IMHO
