I'm having a trusted 928 shop do the intake refresh and motor mounts, pan gasket.
It should run me $2500 including parts and powder coating.
I read Dwayne's write up a few times as a bed time story...
He made it look too easy, I opened the hood a couple of times....[/QUOTE]

Jeff-

AFAIK there's no separate part # for the oil pressure sender plug, and the harness it's connected to is NLA from Porsche (though Carl sells a replacement 32V front-of-engine harness, perhaps he's got a source for the connector. They are all crappy like that, from having 20 years of hot oil dripped into them. My vote would be liquid tape for now, not sure how you'd solder clean ends into that plug without cutting deep into it.

Rob:

Which vendor is Carl again? Might hunt down the FOE harness..seems like a good thing to look at during a WPTB job.

Jeff-

Carl is Carl Fausett, 928 Motorsports. Here's the FOE harnesses.

http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/wiringharness.php

After some more poking around PET:

He sells a 32V version, but the 928 oil pressure sender is the same part # 928 606 203 01 from 78-88 and has 2 spade connectors on it. It then becomes -03 and -05 for '89-95 and has the three round male pins. So my guess is Carl's FOE harness has the spade connectors and not the fancy molded 3 pin plug, but I'd be happy to be wrong about that.

Rob, I think Speedtoys asked that inside my thread. I might see if I can heat up the rubber plug, push the pins out and then solder new wire to the pins and rebuild the plug. New heat shrink and the like on the wires. Perhaps cut back 6" or so into the harness. Have to see.

Default Parts are back

So I got the part back from PC today. Perhaps I can get the thing running this weekend.
Name: pc2.jpg
Views: 52
Size: 149.4 KB

I am pleased with the results. Total cost was $180. $130 to have them walnut shell blasted and $50 to powder coat. Could have saved the $130 for blasting and had the pc shop do it with sand for $20 more but didn't want to take a chance.

Silver and red will break up the black under hood area. Gonna put Nicole's lettering in the "porsche" on the valve covers. Maybe in Yellow, not decided.

I'll post more when in the car.

Default This isn't the car I bought

Done (well see PS at the end).

Runs like a raped ape. This is not the car I bought a year and half ago. With everything working, this thing is fast. I can't wait to take a hit off the crack pipe of a stroker when I get out to Cali.

I can say the car has been transformed by the Intake Refresh.

Now for the bad. Cam covers have to come off when I get back from vacation. O Rings are pouring oil out of the elbow and caps on the driver and passenger side. I have to wipe it up after a 25 mile drive or it drips on to the exhaust.

If you are considering doing an intake refresh, just get Dwayne's write up and tackle it. It isn't that bad. I really like the cardboard standoffs used to hold the intake up when you are installing it. Clever idea.

If anyone is going to do a refresh, I'll lend out my MAF pressurization tool and my Cam Cover nut tool thingy to anyone that needs it.

Cheers.

Great looking intake, Jeff! I'm liking the contrast of the red, silver and black bits - very cool! I'm sure your 928 is happy to be running better too! ENJOY!!

Dwayne. I cannot thank you enough for your super detailed write up. It made it so easy I can't even begin to express it! Go to Crest Donuts and have a Butter Bar to thank yourself for the superb job you did!

Something else I thought of was when installing the fuel rail nuts (10mm), I put anti seize in the socket to hold the nut instead of starting the threading with a magnet.
Bonus of coating the whole deal is it will never get stuck and not come off.
