To Side Molding or Not?

I am one of the few who actually like them.
More importantly, I hate door dings.
I had ample chance to remove them 6 months ago and elected to put them back on.
Right now, I am again in the middle of a complete make over, and again, I choose to put them back on.
The main thing is, do whatever you want, it's your car

I think they ruin the look of the car.
And I'm skeptical that they offer any protection from door dings. Line up just about any car next to a 928 and swing the door open and see if the edge of the door lines up with the rub strip. I did this with a few cars/suvs with my S4 and not a single one lined up.
The original organic flowing lines hold up fine without them. With them, they are an unnecessary distraction.

You live in Austin, therefore you just might want to take a ride over to the Austin 928 Owners Club meet on Jan 8th, 2011. Sounds like there will be a good size contingent of 928's from both the Austin 928 OC, and I heard that the Dallas 928 OC is coming down. Plenty of 928's to check out with and without rub strips, wings, sunroofs, etc, etc. Contact: pcar928fan and James will provide you with the exact time and place. He will also help you sign up in the Austin 928 Owners Club. T

I really don't like the strips at all. They jump out at me visually. Practical-Yes. Ugly-Yes. IMHO of course.
I like this look.

I don't like them at all. I'm also not sold on the idea that they "protect" anything. The fact that nearly every car (and truck) has a different height/apex means that the car (or truck) parking next to your 928 has a decent chance of it's door hitting something other than the body moulding of your car.
I always park as far away from others as possible.

I have them but I will remove them when I have the chance. I had a fender replaced a while back and started the process. I filled the fender holes and just 3m taped the rub strip on that way when I'm ready to repaint the whole car it is that much closer to removing them all.
