Nice DD!
I saw a stock EVO run with modified 1980's 911's; last gen. RX-7's; Z's etc. at Summit Point a year or so ago.
It was amazing how quiet the EVO was. You couldn't hear it coming. It handled really well, and kept up with these track-prepped cars w/out a problem.
I can't imagine many cars being able to catch this thing in the snow with the exception of a Cayenne Turbo or maybe an RS6.
Clearly designed from the inside out, I'd never given EVO's a second glance (and from a design standpoint I still don't) but I sure do have an 'out-of-the-box' respect for these cars.
Probably the same respect that I'd have for a Nissan GT-R if I ever get the chance to drive one.

very nice and should be a blast in the snow.
not sure this is actually a question?? Ran with a stock IX MR while in SATA from ~30mph roll. He pulled about 1.5cars initially (hate SATA's 5700rpm 1-2 shift point), then it was dead even to near the top of 3rd. Pulled along side at the next light, he pointed at me and gave a big thumbs up for the fun, 'cause I know he thought he would walk away from me.
Other than insane launches from a stop, a stocker should equal your S4 in performance. They definitely "feel" much more exciting while driving and are packed with performance, but it would need purposeful mods to run with your forced induction friends.
Have fun!
It will be interesting to see if I can beat the local 928's (2 with S/C and one with 150 shots of NX) next spring.

I see quite a few EVO MR type cars at the track.....when setup and driven properly they get around the track VERY fast.....the downside is they only run fast for about 1/2 a session...then they overheat and go into limp mode.....just to repeat at the next session!!!!

Evo's are great. Bought one back in 03' and it was a blast. Some of the sharpest steering of any car I've owned including NSX, 993, Lotus Elise etc. And surprisingly they are quite refined on the road save for the firm suspension.
They may have the visual or audio pressence of a 928 but in terms of sheer grin factor behind the wheel they are way up there. Also, that iron block is bullet proof so they can handle 800hp+.

Damn nice car though, would be a blast to own one. I had a 1999 Subaru Impreza RS and it was incredible in the snow, when I owned it I was actually hoping for slippery roads LOL!

Sharpest thing on my VR4 was..everything..in the engine compartment that is. No space due to the CAD factory snakepit of intake, intercooler and coolant lines...and the twins, of course. Was fun with all the active aero & exhaust toys, startlingly little lag, and brutal off the line acceleration if the launch was hard enough to risk the transfer case. Represented quite well but still seemed tinny and was un-fun to work on.

I was fairly interested prior to the 928, but all the local dealers were jerks, so I walked in, looked around, and walked out. No test drives, thousands tacked onto the price, and attitude did not work for me.

We had the 5-door Ralliart in the office for a while. Twin disc clutch, paddle shifters, turbo...
It was a beast but drank the gas like crazy. It was wrecked in the mountains a few weeks ago as it proved to be too much for someone...
