Exclamation WATER LEAK - NEED HELP!!!

My car doesn't like the rain... most medium to heavy rainstorms result in water dripping onto the rear passenger seat. Right now it is pouring like crazy outside and there is a small puddle ontop of the leather!!! Put the car cover back on so no more water can get in. There are other leaks but they are not an immediate threat, will address them later.

As far as where the leak is, I can see droplets forming on the right rear corner of the headliner (rear leather quarter panels currently removed). Seems like sunroof issue to me. I cleaned the sunroof mechanism and water drain channels about 2 months 2-3 months ago due to a leak onto the driver side of the car (which resulted in an ants nest under the rear seat + soggy/musty noise insulation and padding - what a fiasco). Now the passenger side is leaking. Sunroof drip tray is intact, may be slightly warped though. Seals have seen better days. What can I do to get rid of this? I am already planning to rip up the rear seat asap to assess the extent of the water damage beneath.

OK remove the hatch sun visors and the trim panel behind them then remove the hatch seal,
scrub the seal with some cleaner and a scrub brush let it sit in the sun for a few hours to dry and reform.
Get some Hondabond and an injection tube like you get with the silicone tube sealant.
Inject the HB into the seal groove then quickly install the seal.
Note how it fits over the hatch wire harness.
This should cure the leak.
BUT WYAI also check the hatch anchors, see if they are loose and clean out the hatch seal groove so its free of all dirt

I will try that as soon as it stops raining. Where can I buy Hondabond/injection tube?

By "hatch anchors" do you mean the hinges/where the mount to the body, IIRC there is a gasket there?

i have had exact the same leak, dripping on the right rear seat.
i just replaced the hatch seal by a new one., the old was flattend and was leaking for sure. the dripping in that place is cured, but ,,,

i cant say it solved the whole problem yet, the carpet in the trunk was wet too and i am still getting steamy windows from moister inside the car somewhere. all carpets are dry (but feeling moisty)exept the one in the trunk that was wet.
are the rear lights suspected to get water inside the trunk?, they also get damp inside the lamphousing behind the plastic lens, after heavy and long period of rain i found a verry small pudle in the verry left rear corner just under the long interiorpanel under the rear sidewindow,,but that could be the condenced water that was finding his way down. maby antenna?
rear spoiler has been replaced with silicone sealer and tested with a hose, 100% sure its tight

my car is parked on an uphill pavement nose higher than rear.it has been raining a lot the last months.
can this give problems with the sunroof (i thought the drains run to front, so how does it drain when the car is parked like mine?)
the rear windows seem to be water tight.

i just removed the wet carpet and wait a few days to see wat happens. i can put tissues inside the trunk to see if the get drips on them. the new seal is aftermarket , not porsche, i bought it on ebay. (bad idea?) it was wet on inside and outside, but i have a lot condense on the hatch that runs down.
any ideas are welcome. especialy the rear lights and sunroof are questions i have.

the trunk is open for now to get it dry in the wind. i must get the car bone dry inside to prevent electrical problems ,, moist inside is deadly for connectors, every metal inside gets condenced and start oxidating when the car isnt watertight,,,,,,

my car cover needs to be anchored ,,it was airborn a few days ago.
but a cover does not solve the problem when driving ,,,i realy need to get the car waterproof to prevent further damage.

The sunroof has a seal and it can be replaced, but the new ones still let some water through and they're not cheap. The hatch seal is a major factor. Can you post a picture of it (does is look like the porsche seal with double pipes)? Did you install it with some glue/water preventing substance or dry? Further suspects are quarter window seals but you say they seem thight. There should be a rubber gommet between the body and the rear lights, this was absent in my car and was causing water to come in exactly where you describe it. A further candidate is the hatch key mechanism but I doubt it could leak a lot.

the new seal is installed a week ago, after a period of snow and ice , i cant be sure it was only that seal causing a leak because the car is still moisty inside. i just had a lot of condensation on the rear hatch dripping allong.and it was freezing so it would not dry. i also had to get inside with snow on my feet. its hard to find out now where and how many water is enetering the car.

, today, its 12°c and i removed the half-wet trunk carpet, and lett it dry inside the house. i opend the trunk and lett it dry,,it is realy windy now , so i think it will be dry in a few hours.

i did some search on rennlist and found the sunroof drainholes, checked them and they are free.
i need to adjust the sunroof, it does not go high enough,,,it should go 3mm or 0,11 inch higer to be flat closed. maby to many water for the drainholes getting in, but i doubt, the seal looks like new.

if after the next rainy day i still have a lott of condensation i might still have a leak, that will be the antenna or a bad replaced rear window.(windows are alle replaced after a paintjob.)

i just have to wait untill it start raining again and see wat happen,,, . i have been there before on other cars, u just have to remove interior parts to find leaks with the hose.

the seal i bought is a single pipe with a lip. it fits perfect, i installed it without anything. the old one (also single pipe)was leak for sure, it was flattend and it leaked ,

Aryan I used the DC 111 on a few installs ( injected a bead inside the seal groove) and then smeared it on the outside of the seal ,
this will keep it flexible and water resistant,
I found that the hondabond will be a better sealing medium between the seal and the body rib .
I still suggest to use the DC111 on the outside of the seal though i may not have mentioned it.
Thanks for asking
