Washer reservoir inlet has a pair of 3/4 diam 2inch long carbon steel inserts that need to be removed.
Source of rust.
Epic design & specification fail at the factory.

Haha, don't think I could ever own anything else (besides another Porsche). Love the engineering, the sound, the comments I get on it. I used to dream about owning a Mustang or a Fiero way before I bought the 928, although they are fun cars I'm glad I didn't go that route. It is going to take awhile to get my shark to a point where I can drive it without thinking of all the stuff that still needs doing, but I'm in it for the long haul.

I've got one like yours. Had to replace lots and lots of wear-parts. Lots of melted wires and fried components. No cosmetics. Stripped the insulation and sound deadening, cruise, and soon the AC. Its a fun car to drive and I drive it almost everyday! Very strong.

My parents keep nagging me to stop spending money on the car, buy they don't realize that when I'm done I'll have a brand-new 26 year old car. Eventually it will get to the point where I only have to worry about routine maintenance and minor things, all the big expensive stuff should last another 20+ years.

BTW how do you like your car without sound deadening/insulation? Too noisy? Also I'm debating whether or not to delete the AC, it holds vacuum just fine, maybe convert it and scrap it if it fails.

Different experience. Its a rough old sportscar. Once I quiet the TT it will be good. Exhaust is 85 cat, necked to 84 stock single. Good ride. I realized early it was unrestorable. Bought different ones for that and saved money. They are quiet

Not too much road noise? I have my rear 1/4 panels out and the noise of rainwater splashing against the wheel wells is annoying.

OK, I just bought my 88 S4, and the list is pretty darn short.
So far I have had some intermittent failure of the HVAC head, possibly a relay there is going, but it is getting more and more reliable with daily use. Sometimes these old Porsches respond to use really well, they come back to life or something.
The AC, while recently redone with new compressor, seems to not work. When I tested it it seems that the belt came off the compressor, so not sure what that is about.
The windshield washers have not been used in years, so they need some love. The pump seems OK, because the headlight washers are working, although they currently spray black cruddy water all over the car, so that's going to be dealt with.
Front up-down switch on passenger seat is broken.
Intensive washer--who even knows? I may never get around to that little system.

Seems like everything else works; for $14K, I'm dang happy so far.

Best wishes to those with much longer lists.

Currently it's the driver. No time, and sciatic pain starting after about 20 minutes of driving. Haven't driven more than once around the block since our last fun drive in September.

Apart from that, one of the headlight washer squirters doesn't spray. That's all I'm aware of.

Nicole, the 78 - 84 manual sport seats from a 944 or 911 are about the most comfortable seat Porsche made, after the early 928 comfort seat. I would take a ride in a early 928 and see if those seats are to your liking. Maybe the best seat Porsche ever made.

The Chiropractor gave me a foam wedge, which seems to help sometimes. But it doesn't fix the issue. Strangely, I can ride in a 928 forever, without trouble. Also, using the cruise control helps, but that's only practical on long freeway drives.

I still suspect the strong resistance of the gas pedal is a major contributing factor.

I don't have any sciatic nerve issue whatsoever in the other car.
