Blew a tire - a reminder to all to drive safely

Never seen a wheel broken like that! WOW! It may be to early to tell, but was there suspension damage? That was a HELL of a hit! Glad you are ok and it is easy to see why it turned you HARD LEFT! Deer and debris on the road...a couple of my biggest fears while driving!

+1 on not a blowout. I've had a front tire blowout at speed and, while things instantly got uncomfortably squirmy, I wasn't flung off the road. Something hammered a chunk out of the rim of that wheel. I suppose the wheel could have been damaged when you hit the concrete median, but I'm assuming it was a Jersey Barrier and they shouldn't destroy wheels on a glancing blow.
Weird things happen with road trash FOD. I'm thinking a piece of steel knock and cocked just right to hammer through the tire and into and through the rim. We need forensic close-ups. You are a lucky guy.
I once put a piece of angle iron through the bottom of a gas tank on the first bounce. Made it less than 10minutes on what had been a full tank of gas, with the needle going down all the time, and made it to the shop on fumes, hardly leaving a puddle. Pulling into that shop at 20mph felt like I was dead-sticking a shot-up B17 onto a strip at home in England.
I sometimes think about what could have happened if I'd been running on fumes already when that happened - steel angle, steel tank, spark, fumes, KaBoom. At 70mph. Very exciting. Print the first take.

She's off the ground. Looks much, much nicer to be on four wheels again.
My thanks go out to Giovanni (my apologies if I spelled your name incorrectly) and especially to Dean Fuller. I am in your debt for this one Dean.
Now I am hoping that Roger will indeed be able to dig up a set of brake lines.

Hey Tom, it was nice meeting you this morning. Wauw, the rim on your car was damaged beyond repair, its incredible that the car did not suffer any suspension or steering damage. Dean, let me know when I need to make a trip to your house, heheh, with the trailer ofcourse. Btw, 24 foot beam is in place, tomorrow I am putting the 2nd subfloor, columns, remove the 2 temporary walls and begin installing the hardwood floor :-).

They must have some nasty road garbage out there. Normally we see cans and fast food containers up here, but by looking at your car it looks like you ran over scrapyard junk, like a steel bumper from one of those full sized cars of the late 70's- early 80's. Then it looks like you side swiped a large steel safe which ate the paint off your fender.

It was great talking to you Mark. I'll be in touch about that fender.
I don't know if I can buy anything from an Auburn alumn though . . . admittedly Alabama did not deserve to win (Auburn played a good game), but still . . .
