Hello,
Since I bought the car, it has had a start button, and I've never managed to start it just by turning the key(at the very end nothing happens, and it doesn't spring bak either)
Well, full of hope I changed the electric part(the switch) hoping that it would cure the prioblem. But no.![crying](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigcry.gif)
Seems to me that it won't turn far enough to engage starting position. If i rotate the ignition switch about 5-6mm counterclockwise, then I can start it with the key. Now, it can't be THAT much play in the ignition lock? Is there any adjustments to be made, or is new lock the only way to go?
Thanks,
Nils

Your lucky you have the start button.
I have to go around front after I turn the key on, put the crank in the hole under the rad and give the old girl a flip. Normally starts on the first crank

Glad you figured it out!

There are a few things that I hesitate to buy used. Generally, I want the part I put in to be better than the one I'm taking out. Plus, on the ignition switch anyway, the typical reason that a used one would be out of the car is because it was replaced. Hmmm. Plus it's so much fun to change that a new one is cheap insurance for me.
Of course, in --MY-- case, I replaced the original while chasing an electrical symptom that turned out not to be the switch. I was running out of easy options, and while all the diagnostics pointed away from the switch I replaced it anyway to completely eliminate it as a possible suspect. So my spares collection grew by one piece, a perfectly good original ignition switch. It will stay with the car, along with the documentation, and likely never make it onto ebay or into another car. Bonus pieces for a future owner/collector.
