Default Lube'in It Up OK?

When I replaced the tube that runs from the bottom of the coolant reservoir, I used some SlyGlide on the part that attches to the metal pipeing below. It's what I had available at the time, and there was no way it was going on without something to cut the friction. Not talking gobs of Slyglide, just a light coating to make things easier. I cant recall if SlyGlide has silicone, but am wondering if there are any issues with its use (or silicone) in a place where it could get mixed with the coolant. If it's something I need to address, now is a good time.

Thanks,
Dave

That hose can be an SOB to get on that pipe. Although SilGlyde contains silicone, I'm not sure why you think that might be a problem.

I am with Bill, not going to be a problem as far as compatibility with the coolant.
I use KY on them, it is water soluble.

Bill / Greg thanks! Bill, I was asking b/c I know that silicone does not always play nice with sensors...just wanted to be sure there wasn't going to be some surprise down the line if it's used even sparingly in the cooling system.

Dave

P.S. SOB of a task for sure! Just glad I won't be pulling the res tank for a third time.

WD40 is what I prefer to a lubricating silicone spray. The lube stuff is still slippery maybe days etc. later, but WD40 welds the rubber hose to metal once it evaporates.

Silicone is poison to the O2 sensors, and even a small amount car work through the motor, so care around any part of the exhaust or intake.
