Hey forum, I am in desperate need of a Master Cylinder for my automatic 1982 928. I got one from the community and unfortunately its off a different model.
Please if ANYBODY out there has a used one or a new one I will take it. My car has been sitting for 3 months because I can’t afford the 240.00 dollars for a new one.
I got one for 85.00 (including shipping) but it was the wrong one. PLEASE HELP...
.
Sounds like you've got the wrong car. If a toy car is that financially stressful ( BTDT / been reading your posts) maybe punt.
Best source is 928 International. Wait 13 days and they have a fantastic sale, assuming they have one left in stock, that you can bet will be the right part number.
She is great, I bought her sight unseen. Bought a 1 way ticket to Sacramento Ca, and drove her back to San Antonio Tx without any issues. She had 212k when I picked her up...
Your 82 is in great shape! Wow. Nice car. That engine bay is particularly well cared for and the paint looks real respectable. Nice find.
We've got an 84 here with 200K miles and its very, very strong. It has another lifetime left.
Isaac, is that brown metallic. Hard to tell in the video. Car looks good! Well done! I find it interesting that it is a competition package car but still have the 15" phone dials on it! I didn't even think they offered the 15" PD's after '79! Learn something new every day!
Good luck with the master cylinder, but count yourself lucky - here a new one for a RHD 87 is £500, approx $800. I've bought a used one which I'm hoping to get rebuilt if I can find somewhere.
Rebuilding cylinders is a normal activity with folks who restore old cars. Check with the vintage car community - I'll bet there must be quite a few specialists in the UK.

Thanks Wally, I'll post back with any developments. Meanwhile, it's worth pointing out that rebuilds don't always work so well: I had a clutch disc relined at 1/3rd of the cost of a new friction plate, but the spring was compressed when the linings were replaced so now the bite is far too sharp for my liking. Since then I've bought a good used disc from you guys for less, which is ready to be fitted once I can summon the energy.
Well guys I made a call out to http://www.austinveedub.com/ and asked if they had the Master Cylinder for my 928. I was told with a upbeat tone, "yes". Set expectations that I would make the 1hr 1/2 drive to shop to pick up the part. Only to arrive and told, no that did not have the part. If anyone has a Master Cylinder that they want to sell please let me know. Its for a 82 928 Automatic Transmission
Isaac, you should have connected with the Austin 928 group bro...we could have saved you the trip up! AVW is VERY BAD about saying they have something when they don't. Though I bet they actually DO have one... it is probably connected to a car out back though and has not been pulled yet...
Yeah, man..I got all giddy..Glenn told me he had 2 Master Cylinders. I told the man that I would be making the dive up to Austin to pick it up. When I got there, I was expecting to find a nice clean used part ready to go, instead I went out into the yard with an employee to help find/pull the part.
I found a very sad scene...928's all gutted and out in the elements. Nothing was salvageable, it was sad...all these once beautiful cars...just there left to dry rot out in the sun...
