Glad you're OK. You're a lucky man. I know a fella who lost an eye and most of the sight in the other to a battery pop. Scary.
VERY cool souvenir.
Inquiring minds are still curious about the battery, charger and setting details.

Well, I was thinking that the shirt is already black and the worst damage a car can do is make it more black. I ruled out the powerful whitening effect of sulfuric acid from a battery bomb. Clorox got nuthin on battery acid.
To assuage all concerns about battery charging:
I was completely at fault in this. I was pushing the charge high and fast and the battery was not vented properly. The silicone rubber vent hose for the 'no cell vent caps' battery was pinched under the weight of the battery. I have no fear of future battery charging. If anyone is truly concerned, Put your battery in a vented cage-like enclosure to contain any mishaps. I am sure we can all McGiver some kind of rig with things we have lying about our homes or shop. Some plastic window screen lining the inside of a milk crate comes to mind. This would have lots of air for ventilation and limit the projection of battery casing shrapnel and caustic fluids.

And yes, Mike.
That was my free shirt donated by Roger of 928sRus at the SATB3 event several weeks ago. (Great camaraderie, by the way.)
Perhaps I should have captured the remaining battery acid and stored it in my free beer stein graciously donated by David at Autowerks at the same event. That would not be a fun swill. Hmmm.... Must find other gifts to destroy.
(Kidding.)

Has anyone seen my Hero and Fashion Consultant Roger Tyson?
Word on the street has it that he is too busy settling brake equipment questions to entertain us mere mortals here on this thread discussion about his very own product that saved a user's life in an unusual sacrificial manner.

Years ago I had a battery blow the caps right after I'd taken my head away from being directly over it. Sounded like a .38 going off next to my ear. Didn't get too much acid on me, some on my shirt, one spot on my face I quickly wiped off. But I think I did check my shorts! I looked but I never did find one of those caps! Ever since, it's rare I'll ever have my head over a battery, for any reason, & I always have some kind of glasses on my face!
