Default Want to trade Club Sports for TT wheels

I'm thinking of trading my 16" Club Wheels, forged, ET60, 8" and 9" very good condition for a set of 18" hollow spoke Turbo Twist wheels. Anyone have a set? Local is best.

Default My car now

How bad will the ride quality suffer? I love the looks of the TT wheels in black on a black car.

You should borrow a set of wheels with ET50 fronts before you make this swap, and see how they feel.

There's a big change in cornering and straight line stability once you get as low as ET50 on early cars, or ET55 on later ones. Its tolerable if you haven't had wheels with suitably high offsets before, but once you try them back to back you really notice the difference driving.

You will probably be better off financially by selling the club sports first and buying the TT's with the proceeds. Rumor has it that a nice set of 8's and and 9's fetch close to $1500.

^^^ He's right

And if you just want the look, the Turbo relicas (non-hollow), can be had anywhere btw $400-$800.

Really? If so, I'd sell them tomorrow.

Sounds good but I like the light weight and the looks of the original TTs. I'll look around. Thanks.

Well the Club Sport wheels were only available for like 2 years (only one MY in the US...the CS cars were '88 ROW cars, and we got them on the '89 GT) and they were the widest and strongest wheels ever put on a 928... 8" front 9" rear...SWEET!

Agreed, but just can't warm to the looks. I like the 'manholes' much better, too bad they weren't as wide. 18" offers much better tire choice these days as well.

My sense is $900 is closer to what they would bring. Anyone interested?

Try the 944 board too... the 8" CS rims are highly sought after there... esp. in Club racing classes....

I may be interested if they are an original set from an 89 GT. What would the cost be to ship to Norcross, Ga. 30093?

Brad,
The OE hollow-spoke TT only came in 11 rear. Be ready for a really tight fit, with possible fender rolling. Unless you undersize the tire w/a less than optimal 275 or 285, you will be fender rolling.

Mmm, maybe a 10" rear would be better. I see the replica wheels are made in Italy but I need to do some research and find the brand.

If I sell or trade the rims, I want to do so locally. Thanks.
