Up here in the Great White North.....Dealers charge $150/hr. in the GTA for shop time. It's a bit better in Montreal @ $115.
Help put some perspective on it?

Dont have a 'local' dealer but nearest town does have a bodyshop that charged me less $100 to r&r the DS front door and replace the hinges on my truck............parts and labour, the joy of rural living.

Steve.......if Robs contacts can do an excellent job then why not and put the entire episode behind you.

The a$$hole will get his; one way or another.............another joy we have here of rural living, we know where you live

Oh man I really know how you feel. I had just bought my first 928 and was picking it up from the place where I had bought it. They had it sitting in the parking lot out front waiting for me. I was so excited to be driving it for the first time as my car. As I pulled away, I felt the car kinda wiggle. Seemed weird and I was about to disregard it when I glnced in the mirror and noticed there was a car half pulled out of a parking spot i had just passed. I stopped, got out and yes...someone had backed into me as I drove by. I hadn't even gone 10 feet with my new car. To add to the irony the guy was picking up his car after having been in the body shop next door. Oh well, the damage was really minor and I had it back a week later.

A friend of mine with a REALLY nice Arena Red 993 went in to the store two days ago and came out to a nice new dent in his passenger door! Pretty big one...no note, nothing!

Like he said, $850 is a fair price if painting a panel.

I had a dent in the rear quarter of my 525iT, fixing it involved knocking out/filling the dent, and spraying the quarter panel with blending the new paint into the old. It looked absolutely perfect when done. Quotes varied from $850 to $1500. I went with the $850, and was glad I did.

Look, it works both ways. If you want people to be honourable and leave a note when they dent or scratch your car in a parking lot, you need to be fair too and not try and screw them.

BTW what you suggested is fraud.

Friend of mine closed his body shop. Said every customer was pissed off and wanted more work than the insurance would pay for, and that the insurance was always trying to get out of paying anything. He got tired of the constant hassle.
