Default 928 service in New England

Unfortunately for me, I took too long to line up David Chamberland to work on my 93 GTS this winter, and now he's booked up.

So I'm looking for recommendations on where I can bring my car for a bunch of work that I've been neglecting for a few years. Timing belt, steering rack, shocks, etc...

I live in Central Maine, two hours drive from Portsmouth, NH, three plus hours to Boston, five hours to Hartford, CT. I don't mind driving five or six hours to drop off my car. I would like to leave it for however long it takes to do the work this winter.

My car is a garage queen, so it needs to be well taken care of in a secure location while not being worked on.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Greg

Thanks. Looks like a professional outfit.

I see you've had your tranny rebuilt by Cattaneo. I sent my valve body to him to try and fix my 2-3 lazy shift, but it didn't work. I've heard good things about him though. I suppose he'll need my whole car to fix the tranny.

Dave C is a busy man; I wouldn't know who else to go to. He has mentioned Bobby D'Alisandro at Ira Porsche. He is a real factory trained (928) mechanic who knows 928s. Get ready for $100+/hour though...

Price per hour is one thing to consider, but when you go to a small shop with just one mechanic, you get more personalized service. The trick is finding that one-man operation who's got the facilities and the specific 928 knowledge at the same time. Like Dave C.

I'm sure there are others out there.

EPE in Natick MA. The owner is Gerry Pelligrino. He is a real car guy and the shop knows 928s.

Hey took care of Gretch from 1992 through 2000, (when I got my own shop and semi retired the car).

He is a class guy, will treat the car like it is his own and is fair on the price.

Really, it does not get any better than EPE. European Performance Engineering. http://www.epe.com/

Tell him "Gretch" sent ya!

Greg,
It may be too much of a haul for you, but the best "independent" 928 mechanic in the east is Earl Gillstrom. He's located about 15 miles southwest of Philly. You can contact him via: captearlg@gmail.com Like David C, he does work at his home (retired IBM technician and race car mechanic). Dave C frequently uses him as his consultant.

David Lloyd is no longer at Musante - took up another line of work about 6-9 months ago.

Kevin, at "Randoph Racing" Stoughton Mass. pulled and rebuilt my 82 5speed motor. Know 928's inside-out. 100% Porsche guy. But....... I wish I lived near Earl.
