When the S-4 body style was NEW some people were willing to spend a lot to make their 85-86 that they just bought LOOK new instead of looking like a old 1978..... Also in some countries there are HUGE taxes on importing new cars...Thailand was 200 % . And if the donor car is FREE and the older car needs body and paint work...many 911s for example were "updated" with stolen parts The car is NOT an S-4.

Just like the 74-75 issues of Corvette Monthly I have advertising kits to "update" your chrome bumper 68-73 Corvette to the modern plastic nose.

I was in agreement until I saw the S calipers.

A body upgrade on an 85 makes more sense than a brake / suspension downgrade on an S4.

It's a L/100KM gauge. I have one in my '86.5 from a ROW S4. ('85-'88 gauges/circuit foil are interchangeable.)

The vents on top of the dash are the earlier style. It also has the speaker control kob down by the parking brake handle that's from the earlier cars. Not sure if if the headlight adjusting **** was there on the later cars in Europe, but I don't think so.

Hmm, that's interesting ... AFAIK mine is a ROW '88 S4 (started life in Hong Kong). What year is that gauge from?

I will say this, the wing is suspicious, very suspicious

I think ive changed my mind

Regardless, it does look like a nice car.

Also, I dont care for silvers, but that shade is interesting, I actually like that color. It doesn't look like a color ive seen on an S4 before, perhaps its a newer Porsche color, or perhaps its an older pre S4 color.

Also, to those that did this conversion before, they used to put crap bumpers on that utilized the original exhaust exit location, this has been changed on this car. Although thats not that difficult with the correct muffler to go along with the OE rear bumper.

Its a nicely done conversion, really nice looking car. Which makes it a shame, its a nicely done car, but its going to be difficult to sell. Why not just buy an equally nice S4 and have the real deal? I have no idea what you would do with the thing, perhaps its one of those cars you just happen to own, and just enjoy and never sell.

It doesn't have the seat memory switches....wasn't seat memory standard on an '87?

This is a Euro model; they had to pay extra for everything.

It was there in practically all ROW cars. System was changed to electric in '89 MY but **** position and style remained similar.

Even if memory was not standard on some '87 and later ROW cars door panel should have place for the buttons. This is clearly earlier interior.
