Speedvision enthusiast
Hi all,
Not really a 928 Thread but!
Let me ask a question about speedvision race and the dodge viper : http://www.racecarsforsale.com/saloo...ge-vipe-1.html
For them who had been racing in that competition, Do you have any comments on that car? At which level of performance did it run? Compared to 928?
Thanks
Puyi

I know that a track prepped 928 with a stroker will do quite well against race prepped vipers. Mark Kibort has raced against several and was usually very close in terms of lap times. Maybe Mark will chime in here and give some more comparisons.
that viper ran against anderson in the 1999 or 2000 speedvision series. it ran in the 1:36s at laguna, nothing spectacular, with Bobby Archer driving. my car as it stands now, even 15 years older would have been a good match for him and it and probably beat it
my car, now, is very close to the car anderson had back when he did the series and ran a 1:40.1 with the weight im running and DOTs since then, the track is 1 second faster, and he has got 100more hp with a few more bolt ons. any viper of the old days, can be modified quite heavily to be as fast as you want it to go. there are all the WCGT kits out there to bolt on all sorts of stuff to the newer comp coupes (the real factory race cars) and after market kits and bolt on for these types of old versions of the viper. you can do a lot with 8 Liters of engine!
the comp coupes are 8.3 liter! the video shows how well only the holbert car competes against a stockish Viper competition coupe. (the red one in the video) later videos on youtube show how it runs now, against a competition coupe. as fast as the early versions, but not quite as fast as the later comp coupes with upgrades. Recently, the compe coupes are even faster, on par with the cup cars of today.
