Is there room for that in there? I didn't think there was that much room on the sides of the block.
Good call, but for those of you following along at home, if you haven't done the coolant in a while it's probably better to crack those plugs loose and replace the crush rings before they become part of the block. I honestly think when I removed mine for the TB/WP a few years ago that it was the first time they'd been removed in over a decade, maybe two. Definitely required more torque than the specs call for, and a six-point socket so there was no slippage/strippage.
That's what I always use.
And... FWIW, if you're just wanting to get coolant level below where it'll give you trouble at the corners of the heads, just siphon it out (i.e., you don't necessarily need to drain the block all the way). When I did my intake refresh recently, the coolant was just a few months old and I didn't feel like draining the blocks (I can be a lazy bastard at times), so I just stuck a hose down the water crossover and drained it a few inches below the top of the heads. Worked like a charm. Saved a couple of bucks on block drain plug crush rings.
