I really like the alcantara inset of the seats. Car's interior looks beautiful. You have to tell me how you modified the brackets to get those seats to work in your car since I'm looking at replacing my seats with a set of Boxster ones.

Thank you Bertrand & Mongo. IIRC, they bolt right in. Picked up a power lead that was already under the seat for the power seat back and of course no need to connect the side air bags. T

Me a bunch of new ideals.... Great job!
I like the subtle 3rd brake light... Did you update your Interrior lights?
Great job

Thanks Pete, IIRC, the 3rd brake light started about 83 or 84 so you will need to find an earlier hatch glass for this conversion. I purchased a 80 rear hatch glass and fitted with a custom made LED strip. Interior light housings are out of a VW (available from Roger, etc) and the bulbs are soft white LED's sourced from: www.superbrightleds.com. T

Looks like you had a lot of fun customizing your car! Please can you tell me about the double DIN sat-nav unit that you installed? I'd like to do the same, but I don't know where I can find the appropriate fascia plate, et.c.. Any advice/ guidance would be much appreciated.

That's a JVC AVX-820. This unit does not have nav but if you are willing to pay a premium, double din's with nav can easily be found at Crutchfield, etc. Most head units come with face plate trim. Also wrapped a cord with leather and trimmed below the head unit where needed. Moved things around on the console. Moved the head unit (unit was to deep) and moved the HVAC control below. T

NS80, I developed a flush mounted center console system for the 928 similar to Kieth Widom's design for the installation of a double DIN nav unit, but I made some tooling so that mine could be duplicated for others. The problem is, I think, that there seems to be too much in-the-field-fabrication required with my system for me to try to put it out as a kit. Too, I think my system suffered from some feature creap, at least in respect to the conversion for the cars with the auto Trans. The 5-speed is somewhat simpler.

There is a thread on here about the developmemnt of my system. Depending on where you are, it could possibly work out that we could do my conversion in your car if we could do much of it here in River City. Or if you don't mind your car being down for a while, You could consider sending me your Center Console for much of the conversion. That still depends on a lot of variables.

Let me know if you have any further interest.

Hi Jerry,

That's a very kind offer. Unfortunately, my 928 is based in Britain, and I mainly live in Australia!

My plan is to install a Kenwood double-DIN audio system and to remove the existing audio system and clock (with it's local fascia).

Do you have any photos of your fascia/ system install, please?

Thanks.

Tony,

Hadn't looked at this thread in a long time. The final (well maybe, one never knows what you'll decide to do next!) result is VERY nice. My compliments on wonderful upgrades to a GTS.

Gary (serial #156, right next to yours)
