Default 928 returning from storage

Ok. So 2.5 years ago my 928 developed a couple of problems:

a) A hot start/running problem where it would cut out and/or not restart

b) Washer jets not squirting fluid

When it cut out on my birthday, 60 miles from home and ended up being towed back, after I'd spent a small fortune on it, I'm afraid I ran out of patience and closed the garage door. I was intending to fix it fairly promptly. Unfortunately Real Life intervened and 2 1/2 years later I'm finally about to set about disintering it. I did run it about a year or 18 months ago for a little while (not on the public highway, but it started and ran 'ok'). Just at tickover.

My to do list includes:

- empty fuel tank and add new fuel
- new battery
- oil down the bores (? - needed or just remove fuel pump relay?)
- new oil (before or after firing it up?)
- new brake fluid
- new power steering fluid
- new coolant (before or after firing it up?)
- air/fuel/oil filters
- timing belt/waterpump (belt last fitted in 06)
- reinflate tyres (they weren't too flat last time I looked)
- clean fuses
- new spark plugs/HT leads?
- check discs (were almost new but .... storage)

Have I missed anything? Please bear in mind that this is the first time I've had to do this particularly unpleasant task - which is part of the reason it has taken so long. I have been dreading the effort and expense involved.

Any wise words are very welcome. I will send it out for waterpump/belt as I don't trust myself on that or have the facilities required. The two initial problems are likely to be sent out too. However nothing on the rest of the list looks too hard, and would give a chance to attempt to keep the bills manageable. But as I say, if I have missed anything please please let me know.

Many thanks in advance for your time.

Tires maybe. Tires seem to age worse than they use to. I don't know how old yours were when you parked it, but the rubber might be getting weak.

Take out your washer fluid tank. remove the metal insert in the fill port on the tank as well as the filler neck. clean the tank. take everything apart and get all the rust out. then, clean your washer lines. that will go a long way towards making your washers work.
