Default removing the throttle plate cable: solved!

any tricks to removing the throttle plate cable next to the throttle body on an s4? i looked through dwayne's intake refresh writeup and he says to pry it off... mine doesn't want to budge

I used some circlip pliers - use the thicker rounded portion of the plier ends (not the tiny ends that go into circlips) to apply pressure on both sides of the ball/socket. Trying to pry with a screw driver initially just bent the lever.

dont you have to squeeze the 2 tabs together then push the housing out of the quadrant?

Hilton, I ended up doing something similar. I disconnected the intake from the throttle body, then used a small pair of needle nose vice grips to squeeze it just enough to pop it off... that little bugger was defeating me!

Merlin, thanks for the advice. This was the end attached to the throttle body, under the intake... the finicky little ball/cup setup. I ended up taking a break, drinking a beer, scratching myself, then figuring out an alternative approach... see previous post.
