Default First Place at people's choice concours.

Hey guys,

I just thought I'd post about my "major award" winning first place in the 928 category at the Hurricane Region PCA Oktoberfest people's choice concours! Other 928's there included a 1986.5 with 23K original miles and 4 S4's.

Considering what an amazing car the 928 is to drive, they are just as amazing to look at.

In the last 18 hours driving my OLD '84 (that looks pretty awesome though in Ruby Red) complimented 2X by hot girls! NICE! One really liked the way it sounded as much as she liked the look! SUPER NICE!

Hey, that car looks pretty good, but what is up with the wing...it does not look shiny like a GTS painted wing...

Good question: it has the 596 option code which is a the rear wing painted matte black. (I think it's 596...I'll check).

That would be a non-textured wing... sure it was not in a rear end collision and they just cheaped out by replacing w/ a used S4 wing???

It's textured like an S4 wing....just like an S4 wing. There were a few other early GTS's with this option...early year '93's. It is stated on the COA and a few other papers stating the options.

My '92 GTS is WAY earlier than yours and has a beautiful silver wing to match its beautiful silver paint! I can't imagine someone actually ORDERING a GTS and then saying, "hey take that ugly body colored wing, off, I'd like folks who are not paying attention to confuse my car with an older S4." LOL! Anything is possible though...

Where did you buy that car from? Do you know its history?

Why would anyone do that??? Different strokes for sure.

Just looking at the data, are you James or was that the previous owner...not clear in the write up about the car. What is the current mileage?

I purchased the car from James' widow. James used to be a member here (username JLD). Unfotunately he passed away and his wife was left with the car that she didn't need. She sold the car to us with 59,400 miles. It now has 60,300 miles.

James purchased the car from Willhoit who purchased the car from a dealer who purchased it from a gentleman in Omaha. This gentleman purchased it from a collector in South Dakota who purchased it from a dealer in Chicago who took it on trade from the original owner who lived in Winnetka, IL.

Well, I didn't purchase, my father purchased...it's his car haha.

Geez James, take it easy man. Guy posts (excitedly I'm sure) about how he just took home a concourse prize, and you tell him his car looks like someone cheaped out on bodywork. Not polite.

One of my old GTS's had that same option. Here it is right here; http://www.928registry.org/1993-928GTS-0152.htm It was a late '93 model. It had texture to it just like the S4. This OP is correct about the rear spoiler.

Well, I was at the show and it did look like it was maybe hit in the rear. The passeenger rear quarter for one doesn't seem to match the front fender and door. So James isn't that far off to ask about the wing.
