My imagination goes beyond that. At least I don't limit it to having bent in service.

Do a compression test. If the banks are different by a lot then consider the cams.

Have I missed all the basic work?

everything that could be thought of as in common failure parts have been repklaced. Listed in other postings, it runs rough, more so noticeable under load, wot seems ok, if cam was snapped i wouldnt expect 159lbs compression on each cyl. also while running, disconnecting each injector one at a time makes an equal change. this thing is becoming a nightmare. i found today that at idle i have 120 lbs oil pressure at cold idle but people are saying thats normal in another post. the guts beneath the aluminum housing that the oil sending unit is mounted to are not there. i am planning on making a more detailed post with list of all parts changed since it started and pics of tests performed maybe this weekend per mr merlin. i have been a mechanic for almost 20 years and this one has me. i will say that in the process i am finding old quirks and replacing parts and will eventually have what i wanted. sorry about sloppy text, typing on a phone, thanks all, Bill.
