Default GTGP (global Tuner Grand Prix) Race at Laguna Seca this weekend! (VIDEO UP)

Anderson is signed up and I think I will be joining him.
This should be an epic event, with some of the best names in the racing world showing up. Lets hope they show, as you never know with a non-prize money event. The interesting thing is that with this event, they are giving 4 brand new hoosiers to the winner of each class, and there are 3 of them in the Challenge race on either saturday or sunday.

Its kind of like SpeedGT world challenge meets ITE SCCA.

Anyway, the support races are very exciting too. historic Nascar and the pirelli cup porsche racing series will be runing as well. maybe not as excting, but certainly interesting, is the the time attack like series will be there for tuners to go after the best lap time and these teams are crazy!! (lots of technology)

anyway, if you can make it out, probably worth the trip.

they have even annouced Anderson will be there in his world famous 928GTR !!!

Fantastic Weekend at Laguna Seca.
Lots of great video. front cam, rear cam , some from the sidelines
Two 50 min races, one on Saturday, one on sunday.
for how bad the weather was both days, a pretty good turn out and lot of fans running around checking stuff out in the paddock.
Top pros were there running in the race and in the TimeAttack-like format, as well as a 35 car field in the porsche supercup race (pirelli cup)
Lots of pretty bad crashes, some in our race group.

I got 5th over all in 2nd in class the first day. (big day for the 928! ) in the rain, the great equalizer
I got 2nd in class in the main event race and 8th overall. and missed about $2000 in tires by less than 1tenth of a second at the finish line!!! ahhhhhhhhh!
Mark Anderson didnt do very well with his beast in the rain, as we were all on slicks and all that power, with the way his throttle bodies apply power, was hard to control. But, in the main event race on day 2,we started out with a very wet track, but the rain stopped, so it dried by the 2nd half of the race. Anderson, who qualified an amazing 3rd overall, ended up falling back even behind me due to the wet conditions, and then some, and then clawed his way to the front when the track dried, but not before battling it out with the guy ahead of me, who tried a dive bomb move on Mark, made the pass, but couldnt pull it out on the exit. he spun, and crashed into Mark's side door. a lot of damage, but the monster 928 continued on looking like he did in Speedvision GT Vegas in 2000. He ended up 4th in class, but should have been on the podium due to a uhhhh , little logistical mistake at the end of the race.
We could have both been on th podium, in two classs spraying champagne all over each other! But, it was only I who got to get my driving suit to smell like a drunk at 7-11.

pretty exciting weekend, especially with the professional flare of a spectator event. this weekend had everything. pros, incredible cars, unlimited sound, spectators, crashes, upsets, rain, dry and a ton of fun by, most all.) challenging conditions, but I have to say, the most nerve racking part of the weekend was driving the race car home in the pouring rain, with no wipers and on slicks! very scary! drove 40mph in 3rd gear the entire 2 hours home on the edge of disaster. (the rain race on day one was easy compared to that!)

Pictures, video, and more about the race later.

Wanted to go...since its in my backyard here, but the threat of actual REAL rain last weekend accelerated a # of "get ready for winter" projects outside.

Congrats to you guys! I wasn't able to stay for the race, glad I at least got to say hello..
Some interesting cars for sure- the 4wd Volvo's were fast but fizzled in the race due to wrong tire choice...sorry Mark A sustained damage....

a few more

also, the wreck is the 911Design car. It was a georgous 911GT3 with all the upgrades, 4 liter engine, etc. anyway, it took a beating in the rain vs a wall.

I likes Anderson's pic better (weel at least the 1st one).

Tough luck on the damage. How did the car run with the new sharktuned fuel maps? Better? Faster?

Hard to say. Even if I had 25 more hp across the board I don't think I would notice that but it did idel better than it ever has and my fuel economy seems to be much better,

He lost some HP from what Ive heard, but the car was near as fast as it has been.
I too like his picture (first one) I let a few of those shots get away, and I dont know why.
I need to get on the shark tuner as well, just to see. right now, I know there should be some Power to be found! I certainly need some fuel economy.
Im running 20% more gas for only 3% faster times. Its really fat!

I can imagine the handful Andersons 928 was.....think COLD racing slicks, in the RAIN...so its that great combo of about zero traction....... Its gotta be frustrating getting passed on the straights since you can't give it any gas without endless (minus the smoke of course)

I know how scary driving Sears in the rain was on tiny street tires....I can't imagine 1/2 the traction (maybe less) and 3 times the HP!!!
