87 S4 - the saga ends
Well, here I am again, proud new owner of a silver 1987 S4.
OK, it *was* silver. It's now kind of. . . charcoal. It was roasted last night in a fire at my local Porsche shop.
I think you can see the video here

Yes, that's my 928 up on the hoist there, and that's me being interviewed. Quite a day, after all.
See, this is why it's important not to pay too much for your 928, because you never know, you might have to get a shop's insurance to pay you off three weeks after you bought it!
So after I get my insurance check (assuming I get one, because I personally had no coverage due to my insurance company's refusal), I guess I'll be looking to buy yet another 928 S4/GT in the Fresno area. Any tips?
Hope all of your days were better,
Sean

Yes, I'm glad I have the news video to put in my post, otherwise I might not even believe it myself.
Thanks for the condolences, but I'm trying to remember it is really just a car, and happy that no one was hurt in the after-hours incident.

I'm so sorry for your loss... So sad to see her all burnt and melted... Maybe the shops owner can file a statement that the car was immaculate and you will get high blue book at least. Maybe you will actually come out ahead. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya.

The Good News is that you have a very recent valuation on the car, based on your purchase price plus all the inprovements made to date. You should get all your sales tax and DMV fees in to that number too. So you won't have to suffer through the insurance company replacement evalution process, which typically includes finding the cheapest auto-trader example for "market value".
Let's all hope that the fire investigation doesn't conclude that your car started the fire. (!!!!)

What a bummer. That is just pure bad luck.
Make sure you get top dollar from the insurance company.
I'm sure you'll find a nice replacement soon enough, some nice cars popping up at reasonable prices.
